Midland County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash in Greendale Township

The Midland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a tragic two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of 62-year-old Daniel Herron of Greendale Township. The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., at the intersection of West Isabella Road and South Coleman Road in Greendale Township.

According to the preliminary investigation, Herron was operating a 2019 Kawasaki KAF400 northbound on South Coleman Road. As he entered the intersection with West Isabella Road, his vehicle was struck by a 2021 Toyota Sienna Buick Enclave traveling eastbound. The Toyota was driven by a 34-year-old woman from Traverse City.

Emergency responders from MyMichigan EMS arrived quickly and transported Herron to MyMichigan Medical Center, where he later succumbed to the injuries sustained in the collision. The 34-year-old driver of the Toyota was also transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Three juvenile passengers in her vehicle were evaluated at the scene and were found to be unharmed.

Toxicology results are pending to determine if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. Once the investigation is complete, a final report will be forwarded to the Midland County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Sheriff Scott Holzinger expressed gratitude to all responding agencies for their coordinated efforts at the scene. Assisting the Midland County Sheriff’s Office were the Lee Township Fire Department, Homer Township Fire Department, Michigan State Police, Midland County Road Commission, and MyMichigan EMS.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding this fatal crash.
