Naperville, IL — Authorities are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that claimed the life of a 39-year-old Naperville man late Wednesday night, August 13, 2025.
At approximately 10:01 p.m., the Naperville Police Department and the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District were dispatched to the intersection of N. Naper Boulevard and Plank Road following reports of a single-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle.
Scene Findings
When first responders arrived, they discovered a black 2016 Harley Davidson Fat Bob lying on its side along the east side of the road. The motorcycle had sustained heavy damage, and its operator was found unresponsive nearby.
Paramedics from the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District immediately rendered emergency medical care before transporting the victim to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. Despite all lifesaving efforts, the man was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. His identity is being withheld pending notification of family.
Preliminary Investigation
Initial findings from the Naperville Police Department Traffic Unit indicate that the motorcyclist had been traveling northbound on N. Naper Boulevard toward Plank Road when, for reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle left the roadway. The vehicle then collided with a fence before coming to rest on its side.
No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the incident. Investigators have not yet determined whether speed, mechanical failure, road conditions, or another factor played a role in the crash.
Road Closure and Investigation
Due to the severity of the accident, traffic crash investigators responded to process the scene. N. Naper Boulevard was closed in both directions from Plank Road to Meadow Lake Drive until approximately 2:15 a.m. on Thursday morning to allow for evidence collection and roadway clearing.
Call for Witnesses
The Naperville Police Department is urging anyone who may have seen the crash or has additional information — including dashcam footage from the area at the time — to contact the Traffic Unit at (630) 420-6117.
Community Impact
Motorcycle crashes remain a serious safety concern in the region, particularly during late summer months when rider activity is at its peak. Authorities are reminding both motorists and motorcyclists to remain vigilant, obey posted speed limits, and exercise caution at intersections.
As the investigation continues, the Naperville community is mourning the loss of a local resident, whose life ended suddenly on a familiar stretch of roadway.
