Neal “Divemaster” Garrett Remembered for His Leadership, Service, and Brotherhood

It is with deep sorrow that the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA) mourns the loss of Full Member-24026 Neal “Divemaster” Garrett, who passed away at his home on August 13, 2025. A respected leader, a dedicated veteran, and a cherished friend, Divemaster’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of his CVMA brothers and sisters, his family, and all who had the honor of knowing him.

Divemaster joined the CVMA in 2019 and became a proud member of KS 21-3, where his commitment to the mission and his fellow members was unwavering. Over the years, he held multiple leadership roles within the chapter, serving as Chapter Webmaster, Chapter Road Captain, Chapter Treasurer, and completing two terms as Chapter Commander. At the time of his passing, he was serving as the Kansas State Public Relations Officer, continuing his work to promote and strengthen the CVMA community across the state.

His dedication to the organization extended far beyond titles—Divemaster was present and active, always leading from the front. He earned the LRRP “Tri-State” and LRRP “Finnish the Mission” awards in 2021, and consistently represented KS 21-3 at the CVMA National Meetings from 2021 to 2025. Known for his love of the open road, Divemaster participated in countless rides each year, attending multiple regional events and riding alongside his brothers and sisters in the spirit of camaraderie and remembrance. He had just returned from a trip to Sturgis, South Dakota shortly before his passing.

Before his time with CVMA, Divemaster served his country with distinction. Retiring from the United States Army in 2019 with nearly 20 years of active duty service, he completed five combat tours—two in Iraq and three in Afghanistan. His military career was decorated with numerous honors, including the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Pathfinder Badge. Those who served alongside him remember a soldier of exceptional skill, courage, and unwavering loyalty.

For his CVMA brothers and sisters, Divemaster was more than just a member—he was a source of guidance, friendship, and inspiration. His leadership style reflected the values he lived by: service before self, commitment to the mission, and deep respect for those who served. His big heart, sense of humor, and readiness to help will be sorely missed.

Funeral arrangements will be announced as soon as they are finalized. In the meantime, the CVMA community and all who knew Divemaster are asked to keep the Garrett family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Neal “Divemaster” Garrett’s life was one of service, dedication, and honor. His legacy will ride on in the miles, memories, and brotherhood he helped build. May he rest in peace.
