SAN ANTONIO, TX — A tragic incident unfolded in the early morning hours of Thursday, leaving a woman dead after what authorities believe was an accidental shooting during the filming of a social media video.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, the incident occurred just before 4:30 a.m. inside a room off South Flores Street near East Cesar Chavez Boulevard in Downtown San Antonio. Investigators say a man and woman were together in the room, with multiple firearms laid out as part of their video setup.
Police believe the pair may have been creating content for a social media post when the accident happened. At one point, one of the individuals reportedly tossed a rifle into the air. The firearm discharged as it was handled, sending a single round into the woman’s stomach.
Emergency responders arrived within minutes, but despite their efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released pending notification of family.
The man present at the time of the shooting was taken into custody for questioning by homicide detectives. Authorities have not announced whether he will face charges, saying the investigation is still active and ongoing.
Detectives are working to confirm whether the filming of the social media video played a direct role in the sequence of events leading up to the shooting. The circumstances surrounding the handling of the firearm — including whether it was loaded intentionally — are part of the ongoing inquiry.
