Edgefield, S.C. — August 2025 — What began as a street fight quickly spiraled into a chaotic and violent scene Friday morning, leaving three people injured and 21-year-old Jordan Malik Wright of Johnston under arrest after gunfire erupted in broad daylight. The shocking moments were captured on Facebook Live, where viewers watched the altercation unfold in real time.
Authorities say Wright has been charged with multiple counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime following the incident.
The disturbance broke out around 10:41 a.m. near the intersection of Walnut and Rosa Hill Streets in Edgefield. A live-stream video that has since circulated widely shows several women engaged in a prolonged brawl — throwing punches, pulling hair, and shouting as a crowd gathered to watch. At one point, pepper spray was reportedly used, further intensifying the scene.
Moments later, the confrontation escalated dramatically. Rapid gunfire rang out, sending the crowd scattering and screaming in panic. In the background of the video, a woman can be heard crying out that she had been shot.
When deputies with the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office arrived, they learned that three victims had already been transported to hospitals in private vehicles. One of the victims, who suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, was airlifted in critical condition to Wellstar MCG Medical Center in Augusta.
The injured victims have been identified as Moesha Hightower and Mysterious Morton, who is reportedly Wright’s girlfriend. Wright himself was also injured during the shootout. After receiving medical treatment, he was booked into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center in Augusta, where he awaits extradition back to Edgefield County.
Sheriff Jody Rowland confirmed that investigators recovered two vehicles riddled with bullets — a Nissan Murano and a gray Nissan Maxima — from the Edgefield County Hospital parking lot, suggesting that the violence continued even as victims sought emergency care.
Another individual at the scene, Lasavion Johnson, was initially considered a possible suspect in the shooting. However, Sheriff Rowland stated that Johnson appeared to have acted in self-defense and may not face charges. “I don’t think Johnson will be charged at this time,” Rowland told reporters.
This is not Wright’s first encounter with law enforcement. Records show he was previously charged in 2024 with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest in Edgefield County.
The incident has left the Edgefield community shaken, with residents expressing concern over escalating violence and the role of social media in broadcasting — and at times amplifying — dangerous situations. Authorities continue to investigate the fight and subsequent shooting, and additional charges could follow as the case develops.
Sheriff Rowland urged anyone with footage or firsthand knowledge of the fight and shooting to come forward. “We are committed to getting to the bottom of what happened here. Public safety is our priority, and we will hold accountable those who endanger it,” he said.
Would you like me to make a more community-focused version too — one that emphasizes how this has impacted Edgefield residents and what leaders are saying about stopping violence? That could be useful if you’re planning to share it in a local news-style post.
