On the evening of Friday, August 15, 2025, at approximately 9:38 p.m., the Phelps County Sheriff’s Office responded to a serious multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 6 and T Road in Funk, Nebraska.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered a three-vehicle accident, with two of the vehicles engulfed in flames. Emergency crews from across the county immediately responded to the scene. Agencies assisting in the incident included the Holdrege Fire Department, Funk Fire Department, Loomis Fire Department, Phelps Memorial Health Center, Nebraska State Patrol, and other local partners.
Tragically, this collision resulted in a fatality. Out of respect for those involved and their families, specific details about the victims are not being released at this time. Authorities are in the process of notifying next of kin.
The Nebraska State Patrol and the Phelps County Sheriff’s Office are actively investigating the cause of the crash. Officials have not yet provided information on the number of individuals injured or the condition of survivors. Updates will be shared when appropriate as the investigation moves forward.
In a statement, the Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude for the swift, coordinated response of all first responders who worked tirelessly under challenging conditions to control the scene, provide aid, and ensure public safety.

The Phelps County Sheriff’s Office urges motorists to always use caution on the roadways, especially during evening hours, as even a single moment of inattention can lead to devastating consequences.
