TROUP COUNTY, Ga — Authorities in Troup County are investigating a shooting that left a 47-year-old man in critical condition early Monday morning.
According to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was found unresponsive and bleeding from a gunshot wound to the head at his residence located in the 100 block of Chipley Mountville Road. Emergency services were dispatched shortly after 7:50 a.m. following a call to 911 reporting the incident.
Upon arrival, first responders quickly recognized signs that a crime had likely occurred and requested assistance from the sheriff’s office to secure the scene and begin an investigation.
The victim was rushed to WellStar West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, where medical personnel confirmed he had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. He remains in critical condition.
