Homicide Investigation in Lewisburg Leads to Arrest of 66-Year-Old Suspect

LEWISBURG, TN – A tragic incident involving Wendy L. Lucas unfolded on the morning of Saturday, August 9, 2025, when Lewisburg Police Officers were called to the 300 block of Maple Street for a report of a possible death. The call came in at approximately 8:52 a.m., prompting a swift response from law enforcement.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a deceased woman inside a residence. She was later identified as 51-year-old Wendy L. Lucas. Authorities confirmed that Lucas had sustained apparent traumatic injuries, and detectives from the Lewisburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division immediately took over the case.

In the hours following the discovery, investigators worked diligently to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and reconstruct the events leading up to Lucas’s death. Through their efforts, 66-year-old Gary L. McCormick was identified as the primary suspect.

McCormick was taken into custody without incident and has been formally charged with Criminal Homicide. He is currently being held at the Marshall County Jail and is expected to appear before the Marshall County General Sessions Court at a later date.
