It is with the deepest sorrow that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Blake Carpenter, a sweet and vibrant 3-year-old girl whose life was tragically cut short during the recent flooding in Hunt, Texas.
Blake and her family were visiting the area when the unforgiving waters of the Guadalupe River began to rise in the dark hours of the night. What was meant to be a peaceful getaway turned into a nightmare, as the house they were staying in was suddenly overwhelmed by flash flooding. According to the family, the water came so quickly and with such force that they found themselves in a terrifying and inescapable situation.
Blake’s mother, Mallory, and older brother, Dalton, managed to escape the floodwaters and reach safety. But the unimaginable happened — Blake, just three years old, did not survive. Her body was recovered after a desperate search. Her father, Brian Carpenter, remains missing as search and rescue efforts continue.
There are no words that can capture the depth of pain and devastation this family is enduring. The loss of a child, so young and full of life, is a grief beyond comprehension. Blake was described by loved ones as joyful, curious, and full of light — the kind of little girl who left happiness wherever she went. Her laughter was infectious, her smile unforgettable, and her love for her family pure and boundless.
Blake had her whole life ahead of her — a life filled with dreams, first days of school, birthday parties, and bedtime stories. The world is dimmer without her in it.
As we hold space for this family in the face of unbearable heartbreak, we also remember the love they shared — a mother who fought to save her children, a brother who will now carry the memory of his sister in his heart, and a father who is still unaccounted for but whose strength and devotion are reflected in the family he helped raise.
To Mallory and Dalton: our hearts are with you. Your courage is unimaginable, and your loss is unfathomable. We grieve with you. We pray for you. And we send all the love we have as you walk through this darkness.
To the entire Carpenter family and all who knew and loved Blake: may you find strength in community, comfort in the memories, and peace in the legacy of a beautiful little girl who touched so many lives in her short time here.
Rest in peace, sweet Blake.
You were deeply loved.
You will never be forgotten.
And we pray that your father is found and brought home.
