Marshall County, WV — Marshall County Sheriff Mike Dougherty has confirmed a fatal UTV accident that claimed the life of 66-year-old Ronald A. Stollar, a longtime resident of Moundsville, early this morning.
According to Sheriff Dougherty, the crash occurred in the early morning hours on Big Wheeling Creek Road, a rural stretch known for its winding curves and steep embankments. Preliminary reports indicate that Stollar was operating his utility terrain vehicle (UTV) when it veered off the roadway and went over a steep embankment.
The force of the accident caused Stollar to be ejected from the UTV. Deputies arriving on the scene found him several yards away from the vehicle. Tragically, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. Authorities have not yet determined what led to Stollar losing control of the vehicle, and it remains unclear whether speed, mechanical issues, or other factors played a role. No other individuals were involved in the incident.
Sheriff Dougherty expressed condolences to the family and friends of Ronald Stollar, noting that the community has lost a familiar and well-liked resident. “This is a tragic accident, and our thoughts are with Mr. Stollar’s loved ones as they grieve this sudden loss,” Dougherty said.
Big Wheeling Creek Road remains open to traffic, though motorists are urged to drive with caution in the area. The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have seen the UTV before the crash or has relevant information to contact investigators.
If you want, I can also create a community remembrance version that focuses more on Ronald Stollar’s life and legacy rather than just the crash details. That would make it more personal and tribute-oriented.
