Born on November 1st, 1932, in Elkton, Virginia, to Pauline E. Hensley and Elmer P. Hensley, Wayne grew up with the values of integrity, service, and perseverance that would guide him throughout his life. In 1952, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country honorably until 1956. His time in the Navy instilled in him discipline, resilience, and a love for adventure—qualities that shaped both his personal and professional life.

Wayne’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Wayne Cycle Shop in 1970, a venture that became a local landmark in Waynesboro. With the help of his family and dedicated employees, he successfully operated the shop for an impressive 44 years, providing quality service and fostering a loyal customer base. His gratitude for those who worked alongside him never wavered, and he credited much of the shop’s success to their dedication and hard work.

Beyond his business, Wayne had a profound love for his community. Over the years, he generously donated equipment to Staunton and Waynesboro City Parks and consistently sought ways to give back to the Augusta County area. His contributions left a lasting imprint on the region and reflected his belief in supporting and uplifting those around him.

In his personal life, Wayne was known for his adventurous spirit and zest for life. He loved riding motorcycles, a passion that often took him on memorable road trips with friends and family. One of his favorite traditions was traveling to Florida with his beloved wife, Nina, especially during Daytona Bike Week, where they shared countless memories together.

Wayne’s devotion to his family was unwavering. He is survived by his son, Greg Hensley and wife Cheryl of Waynesboro; his grandson, Maxwell Hensley and wife Shui He of Williamsburg; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Cooper and Adaline. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, including his special niece, Paula Puckett, who held a unique place in his heart.
