MattheisSaginaw, Michigan – It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Jacob Brian Mattheis, a beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend. Jacob left us suddenly on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the young age of 17. Born on July 3, 2008, in Saginaw, Michigan, Jacob was a cherished member of his family and community.
Jacob was the beloved son of Brian and Michelle (Krabill) Mattheis of Saginaw. He was an active and spirited young man, currently a junior at Nouvel Catholic Central High School, where he was known not only for his dedication to academics but also for his enthusiasm on the athletic fields. Jacob loved playing football, basketball, and track, showcasing his competitive spirit and teamwork skills.
A committed young man of faith, Jacob was an active member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and found joy and fulfillment in serving as a Camp Counselor at Camp Lu Lay Lea in Lupton, Michigan. His love for the outdoors was evident in his enjoyment of nature and spending quality time with his family and friends — moments that were treasured deeply by all who knew him.
Jacob’s warm heart and infectious spirit left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. He was loved fiercely and will be remembered fondly for his kindness, his dedication, and his joyful approach to life.
Jacob is survived by his loving parents, Brian and Michelle Mattheis; his sisters, Riley and Addison Mattheis; and his grandparents, Steve and Irene Krabill, Edward and Jennifer Mattheis, and Grandma Cathy Mattheis. He also leaves behind beloved aunts and uncles — Ken Krabill, Ben Krabill, Frank and Tammi Mattheis, Lisa and Seth Vendelboe — and cousins Kennedy Krabill, Marie Krabill, and Kelsey Krabill. Jacob’s special girlfriend, Cora Wedding, also mourns the loss of a young man who meant so much.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Robert and Colleen Krabill, Frank and Mary Krawczak, Eleanor Czolgosz, and his aunt Stephanie Krabill.

Funeral Services and Remembrances
The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, located at 5376 State St., Saginaw, Michigan. The service will be officiated by Rev. Fr. Steven Gavit. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Friends and family are invited to visit and pay their respects at the Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and again at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
