Belleville, Illinois – A quiet afternoon in Belleville turned into a scene of chaos and concern as police responded to a double shooting at the McDonald’s located at 125 South Belt East on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. According to the Belleville Police Department (BPD), officers were dispatched to the popular fast food restaurant around 4:45 p.m. following reports of a disturbance—only to learn moments later that gunfire had erupted inside the building.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims received immediate medical attention and were transported to nearby hospitals, where they are now reported to be in stable condition.
In a shocking twist, police say the alleged shooter was an employee of the restaurant, who discharged a firearm inside the restaurant during the disturbance. The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, was taken into custody at the scene without incident. Investigators also confirmed that the firearm used in the shooting was recovered at the location.
