Laying in silence, allowing the stillness of the day to settle while the Boylan family gathered their thoughts and emotions, felt like the only respectful thing to do. There are moments in life when words fall short, when even the most eloquent sentiments can’t fully express the weight of loss. Today is one of those moments.
Kevin Boylan — for those who never had the joy of crossing paths with him — was so much more than just the namesake of our beloved restaurant. He was its soul. Its compass. Its beating heart. Kevin was larger than life, not just in personality, but in spirit. A mentor, a storyteller, an entertainer, a relentless giver, and most of all, a friend. He was the kind of man who, despite his many accolades and achievements, never let success overshadow the value of personal connection. To Kevin, relationships weren’t a part of life — they were life.
That’s what made Kevin’s Kevin’s. It wasn’t just a name on the sign. It was a reflection of the man himself. A place infused with warmth, character, laughter, and a spirit of belonging. His legacy doesn’t live in brick and mortar alone — it lives in the friendships he nurtured, the kindness he extended, and the wisdom he shared. The lessons he left behind are imprinted on all of us lucky enough to have learned from him, worked beside him, or simply shared a drink and a laugh in his company.
Personally, Kevin mentored me in ways I’ll never fully be able to repay. He showed me how to lead not with ego, but with empathy. How to make a room light up with just a story. How to always leave people wanting more — a lesson he somehow made even more poignant in his passing. You did it, my friend. You lived your life like a masterful performance. And now, as the curtain falls, we’re all left here in the quiet aftermath… missing you, and wanting more.
To everyone reading this — please, keep the Boylan family in your hearts. Kevin always held yours in his. He carried people with him. He saw people. He remembered names, stories, struggles. He cared in ways that went far beyond surface.
And as if the heartbreak wasn’t already unbearable, I must also extend my deepest condolences to the Baur family. Kevin’s nephew, Michael Baur, has also passed. Michael, a man of character and promise, leaves behind his own legacy of kindness and connection. The loss of two incredible souls in one family is almost unfathomable, and the sorrow they’re facing is something no family should have to bear alone. So today, we hold them all close. In our thoughts. In our prayers. In our hearts.
This is more than a post. It’s a plea to pause. To reflect. To hold your loved ones a little tighter. To appreciate the storytellers in your life. The mentors. The friends. The family. To never take a shared meal, a late-night talk, or a simple smile for granted.
Today, we salute Kevin. We salute Michael. We salute their families and all those quietly navigating the waves of grief. And we remind ourselves that the best way to honor their memory is to live as they did — with heart, humor, humility, and humanity.
To those we loved and lost — may your memory never fade. And may we meet again in a better place.
With love and gratitude,
