BEAUMONT, Texas (July 19, 2025) — A quiet Saturday morning in Beaumont was shattered by gunfire after a fatal shooting occurred in the 500 block of Dewey Street, prompting an active investigation by the Beaumont Police Department.
According to authorities, officers were dispatched shortly after receiving a 911 call reporting a shooting victim. When police arrived on the scene, they discovered one individual suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to provide immediate medical assistance, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the victim has not been officially released, pending notification of next of kin. As of this writing, police have not released information about any suspects, nor have they disclosed a possible motive for the shooting.
The crime scene remained cordoned off for several hours as investigators processed evidence and canvassed the neighborhood for witnesses or surveillance footage. In a related development aimed at improving public safety and crime response across the region, the Nederland Police Department recently announced plans to join Beaumont’s Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC)—a state-of-the-art command center equipped with surveillance capabilities, license plate recognition software, and real-time intelligence tools designed to aid law enforcement in preventing and solving crimes.
Incoming Nederland Police Chief Rod Carroll confirmed that efforts are underway to secure grant funding and build the necessary infrastructure for full RTCC integration by 2026. The move was endorsed by Nederland City Council, with Councilmember Britton Jones calling the initiative a major step toward “strengthening public safety through innovation and collaboration.”
Though the RTCC initiative is still in development for Nederland, Beaumont has already begun utilizing the technology to assist in active investigations. It’s unclear whether the Real-Time Crime Center is currently being used to support the investigation into the Dewey Street shooting, but officials say the center has proven invaluable in prior cases involving gun violence and rapidly developing crime scenes.

The death on Dewey Street has once again shaken the Beaumont community. As police continue their work, they are calling on the public to assist in the investigation.
