With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Fente Molalign Wassie, who departed peacefully on July 19, 2025. His was a life marked by resilience, devotion, and unwavering faith — and though our hearts ache, we rejoice in knowing he is now at rest.
Fente was not only a cherished father and grandfather, but also a devoted husband, a trusted friend, and a guiding light to many. His life journey was long and often difficult, yet he walked it with courage, grace, and unshakable conviction.
Nearly 60 years of his life were lovingly shared with his wife, our dear mother Lubov, who stood by his side through every season of joy and trial. Together, they built a life rooted in love, respect, and enduring faith — a home that became a refuge for many and a legacy of hope for their children and grandchildren.
From a young age, Fente faced adversity. He experienced the heartbreaking loss of his mother early in life and endured long stretches of separation from loved ones. His formative years and much of his adult life were spent under the shadows of oppressive regimes, religious persecution, and the ravages of war. Yet none of these hardships dimmed the inner light that made him who he was.
Fente remained committed to education, to service, and to hard work. He was a man of quiet strength and remarkable integrity — someone who saw dignity in labor, purpose in perseverance, and the hand of God in all things. His faith was his anchor, and it shaped every decision, every word, and every act of kindness he extended.
To his children and grandchildren, he was more than a father — he was a mentor, a storyteller, a steady voice of wisdom, and a constant presence of love. He taught by example: through humility, compassion, and an unwavering sense of responsibility to both family and community.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lubov, and by his children and grandchildren, each of whom carry within them the lessons, laughter, and love he so generously gave.
Though we are grieving his absence, we are also celebrating a life so richly lived. Fente’s story is one of triumph over adversity, of love in the face of hardship, and of faith that never wavered. His legacy is etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him — and it will live on in the generations he inspired.
We thank each of you for your prayers, kind words, and support during this deeply difficult time. Your presence and love bring comfort as we begin to navigate life without him by our side.
May his memory be eternal, and may we honor him by walking in the same strength, humility, and faith that he so gracefully embodied.
Rest in peace, Fente Molalign Wassie. You were deeply loved, and you will be forever missed.
