It is with immense sorrow and profoundly heavy hearts that the Cureton-Johnson Family announces the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and family cornerstone, Mr. Leonard C. Johnson, Jr., who departed this life earlier today at the age of 78.
To us, he wasn’t just “Dad”—he was the best dad ever. Affectionately known to many as “Pops,” Leonard was the embodiment of strength, wisdom, and unwavering love. His life was a testament to perseverance, dignity, and grace under fire—both literally and figuratively. A true life war hero, Leonard courageously served his country, not just in uniform, but every single day through his commitment to family, faith, and community. His legacy is not only etched in the chapters of history but written on the hearts of everyone privileged to know him.
Leonard overcame countless obstacles with the quiet strength and humility that marked every chapter of his life. He modeled manhood in a way that transcended generations—demonstrating what it means to be a father, provider, protector, and mentor. He gave us guidance when we needed it most, comfort when we were broken, and laughter when the world felt heavy. To be loved by him was to know safety, encouragement, and unconditional love.
His wisdom was timeless, his hugs were healing, and his faith was unshakeable. He instilled values in us that will last for lifetimes—honor, integrity, hard work, and most of all, love. He wasn’t just a father to us; he was a father figure to many who needed one, offering mentorship, kindness, and open arms to anyone blessed enough to cross his path.
Though our family is deeply saddened by his departure from this earthly life, we are comforted by the promise that this is not goodbye forever. Our hearts find peace in the blessed assurance that one day, we will meet him in the air, reunited in joy and glory. Until that day, we carry him with us—in our memories, in our stories, in our laughter, and in every family gathering where his presence will still be felt.
To all who have reached out in love, prayer, and support—thank you. We ask for your continued prayers in the coming days as we prepare to celebrate the life of a man who gave so much to so many. A full obituary and service details will be shared soon.
Rest easy, Pops.
You’ve fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.
Your legacy lives on.
We love you more than words can say.
