Montpelier, VT — The Montpelier Police Department is actively searching for Emily L. Shoestock, 26, following a violent incident that occurred on the evening of July 10, 2025. At approximately 5:08 PM, officers responded to a 911 hang-up call near 58 State Street, where a person was reportedly heard screaming in the background. The location lies near 61 Taylor Street, an area known for frequent emergency calls.
Upon arriving on scene, officers were informed that Emily Shoestock had assaulted several individuals before fleeing the area. Witnesses stated that she used a box cutter to injure a male victim, physically assaulted a pregnant woman, and smashed a cellphone belonging to another person—an act that hindered the victim’s ability to contact emergency services.
At the time of the incident, Shoestock was already under active court-ordered conditions of release stemming from two prior cases involving assault and disorderly conduct. These conditions explicitly prohibited her from engaging in violent behavior, making this latest incident a violation of court orders.

- Aggravated Assault
- Simple Assault
- Aggravated Disorderly Conduct
- Interference with Access to Emergency Services
- Violation of Conditions of Release (2 counts)
Emily Shoestock is believed to be transient within Central Vermont, and efforts to locate her thus far have been unsuccessful. A Be-On-the-Lookout (BOL) notice has been issued throughout the region, and law enforcement agencies are on alert.
