SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — Authorities in Schaumburg are actively investigating a tragic shooting that claimed the life of a Galena woman early Saturday morning. The victim has been identified as Christine Moyer, 45, a resident of Galena, Illinois. According to Schaumburg police, the fatal incident took place in the parking lot of the Marriott Hotel located at 50 N. Martingale Road.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, Schaumburg police officers responded to multiple reports of gunshots fired in the hotel parking area. Upon arrival, officers located Moyer in a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. First responders attempted lifesaving efforts, and she was quickly transported to a nearby hospital. Tragically, she was later pronounced dead from her injuries.
Police confirmed that Moyer had been staying at or near the Marriott hotel, though the details surrounding her presence there and the events leading up to the shooting remain under investigation. The motive behind the shooting is not yet known, and no arrests have been announced as of Saturday afternoon.
In a public statement, Schaumburg Police Department spokesperson Lt. James Hartley said,
