WOODWARD COUNTY, OK — A disturbing and emotionally charged case is unfolding in Oklahoma, where a mother has been arrested for allegedly shooting the man accused of sexually abusing her 16-month-old child. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) confirmed that 30-year-old Krista Fizer and an accomplice are facing multiple felony charges following a violent confrontation that left the alleged abuser injured.
The incident stems from events that began on June 12, when Fizer reportedly noticed signs of trauma on her toddler son after he had been in the care of her boyfriend, Tyler Valdez. Deeply concerned, Fizer sought medical help, and a pediatric sexual assault examination revealed that the injuries were consistent with sexual abuse trauma. The child was immediately removed from Valdez’s care, and authorities were notified.
Two days later, on June 14, emotions boiled over. According to investigators, Krista Fizer and a man identified as Wayland Martin drove to the residence where Valdez was staying. Once there, they allegedly opened fire on the home, striking Valdez in the process. He survived his injuries and was later taken into custody by law enforcement.
Following the shooting, both Fizer and Martin were arrested. OSBI reports that Krista Fizer has been charged with:
- Two counts of Shooting with Intent to Kill
- Two counts of Assault and Battery with a Deadly Weapon
- Violation of an Emergency Protective Order Resulting in Great Bodily Injury
- Threatening an Act of Violence
Wayland Martin faces similar charges, including:
- Two counts of Shooting with Intent to Kill
- Violation of a Protective Order Resulting in Great Bodily Injury
Meanwhile, Tyler Valdez, the man at the center of the abuse allegations, was formally arrested and booked into the Woodward County Jail on charges of Sexual Abuse of a Child Under 12, a grave offense that carries severe penalties under Oklahoma law.
The case has sparked intense public reaction, with many torn between outrage over the horrific abuse allegations and the extrajudicial response taken by the mother.
