It is with deep regret and heavy hearts that the Butler Police Department and the broader first responder community announce the passing of Retired Lieutenant Robert “Bobby” Findura, a cherished and highly respected member of the force whose legacy of service, dedication, and kindness will forever resonate within the department and beyond.
Lt. Findura passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, after a life dedicated to protecting and serving his community. His death marks not only the end of a remarkable career but also the loss of a pillar of strength, mentorship, and integrity in the Butler community.
Bobby Findura devoted more than three decades of his life to law enforcement, rising through the ranks of the Butler Police Department with a sense of duty, humility, and honor. He began his career as a patrol officer, where his natural leadership and calm under pressure earned the admiration of colleagues and the trust of the public. Over the years, he served in various roles—investigator, field training officer, community liaison—and ultimately retired as a Lieutenant, a position from which he helped shape the department with both professionalism and compassion.
Those who worked with him remember Bobby as more than just a skilled officer—he was a mentor, a friend, and a source of encouragement during the most challenging times. Whether he was helping a rookie navigate their first night on patrol or coordinating a community event for local families, Bobby always led with his heart. His laughter was infectious, his wisdom well-earned, and his character unwavering.
Lt. Findura’s contributions extended far beyond the police station. He was an active participant in local outreach programs, youth mentorship initiatives, and charity events, often using his own time and resources to uplift those in need. He believed deeply in bridging the gap between law enforcement and the people it serves, and he embodied that belief through every handshake, school visit, and heartfelt conversation.
In retirement, Bobby continued to serve. He remained a vital presence at community meetings, volunteered his time for first responder support programs, and offered counsel to the next generation of officers. Though no longer in uniform, his dedication to public safety and his unwavering belief in justice never faded.
The news of his passing has been met with an outpouring of grief and remembrance from fellow officers, city officials, and residents alike. Flags across Butler have been lowered to half-staff in his honor. Colleagues describe him as “the kind of officer every department hopes for” and “a man who always stood for what was right, no matter how difficult.”
Bobby Findura is survived by his loving family—his wife, children, and grandchildren—who were his greatest pride. To them, and to the countless others who were lucky enough to know him, his memory will forever be a blessing.
Details regarding memorial services for Lt. Findura will be shared by the Butler Police Department in the coming days. Plans are underway for a full honors funeral, a fitting tribute for a man who gave so much to his department, his city, and his fellow officers.
As the Butler community mourns this tremendous loss, we also celebrate the life of a man who embodied service above self. Rest easy, Lieutenant Robert “Bobby” Findura. Your watch has ended, but your legacy will endure in the hearts of all you inspired.
End of Watch – Never Forgotten.
