DALLAS, TX – Dallas Police have released the names of both the victim and the suspect involved in a fatal shooting that occurred on Saturday afternoon, July 26, 2025, in the city’s Love Field neighborhood. Authorities confirm that 44-year-old Augustin Espinosa was shot and killed in the incident, and 43-year-old Robert Simmons has been arrested in connection with the crime.
Incident Details
Officers were dispatched to the 4400 block of Maple Avenue shortly after 2:30 p.m. following multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Augustin Espinosa suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics with Dallas Fire-Rescue responded quickly, but tragically, Espinosa was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witness accounts and surveillance footage helped investigators identify Robert Simmons as the suspect. He was located nearby and taken into custody without incident.
