GARY, Ind. — A tragic act of violence claimed the life of a 27-year-old Lafayette man, who has now been formally identified as the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred early Saturday morning in Gary. The Lake County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the deceased as Antwan Tyler Levell Williams, a resident of Lafayette, Indiana.

The fatal incident took place on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in the 400 block of East 21st Place. According to reports from the Lake County Coroner and Medicolegal Death Investigation team, emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene at approximately 7:45 a.m., and Antwan Williams was pronounced dead shortly after, at 8:12 a.m. The scene was secured by first responders and local authorities as homicide detectives began their investigation.
