EAST LAMPETER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A shocking act of gun violence in the early hours of Saturday morning has left a community rattled and a victim fighting for their life, after a man was shot in the head in East Lampeter Township.

Authorities say Marquis Angel Aguilera, 22, of Columbia, has been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting. He now faces a series of serious felony charges, including criminal attempted homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, and possession of a deadly weapon.

The terrifying incident unfolded around 2:34 a.m. on July 27, when East Lampeter Township Police responded to a call regarding a shooting in the 1900 block of Lincoln Highway East. Upon arrival, officers found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Emergency medical personnel quickly transported the individual to a local hospital, where they remain in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

Details surrounding the motive remain unclear, but police have indicated the incident appears to be isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Aguilera was taken into custody shortly after the shooting and is now being held in the Lancaster County Prison. Due to the severity of the charges, bail was denied, and he remains in custody as he awaits his preliminary hearing, scheduled for August 4.
