Nampa, Idaho — July 27, 2025 -A devastating tragedy has shaken the Nampa community following a fatal plane crash that occurred early Sunday evening. At approximately 5:41 p.m., multiple 911 calls were received by Nampa Dispatch reporting a small aircraft had gone down near the Nampa Municipal Airport. First responders from local police and fire departments rushed to the scene in the 200 block of North Venice Street, where they discovered the wreckage of a private plane that had crashed into an unoccupied outbuilding in a quiet residential neighborhood.
Tragically, all three individuals aboard the aircraft were killed in the crash. Authorities have confirmed that no one on the ground was injured, though the emotional toll on the community is profound.
The aircraft struck a small structure near several homes, sparking immediate concerns of a larger disaster. Thanks to the quick response of emergency personnel and the fortunate fact that the building was unoccupied, further casualties were avoided.
The identities of the deceased have not yet been released, pending official family notification. City officials and investigators have expressed their deepest sympathies to the victims’ families.
“My heart grieves for those who tragically lost their life,” said Mayor Debbie Kling in a somber statement Sunday night. “Our thoughts and prayers are with their extended family during this difficult time.”
FAA and NTSB Now Leading Investigation
Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) arrived on scene shortly after the crash and have begun collecting data to determine what caused the aircraft to go down. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is expected to arrive by Monday, July 28, to lead the in-depth investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Authorities have cordoned off the crash site and are asking residents to stay clear of the area as crews continue their work. Investigators will be looking into flight records, weather conditions, possible mechanical issues, and pilot history as part of their process.
A Community in Mourning
While the investigation unfolds, the loss of life has cast a heavy shadow across Nampa. The tragic nature of the accident — involving a routine flight that ended in catastrophe — has left residents reeling. Neighbors near the crash site reported hearing a loud engine noise followed by a sudden explosion and heavy smoke.
“It felt like the whole street shook,” said one nearby resident. “We ran outside and saw the plane — it was just horrible. Our hearts go out to whoever was on that plane.”
City officials are working to provide support for witnesses, affected families, and emergency personnel who responded to the traumatic scene.
As more information becomes available, updates will be provided by the Nampa Police Department in coordination with the FAA and NTSB.
For now, Nampa grieves the tragic and sudden loss of three lives in an accident that has forever changed the fabric of a quiet Sunday evening.
Anyone with photos, videos, or information that could assist the investigation is encouraged to contact authorities.
