Nancy Lee Veasy Obituary – Beloved Grandmother Dies in Tragic Crash While Returning Home from Visiting Newborn Grandson

SOUTH FULTON, GA — With hearts heavy and full of grief, the Veasy family and their surrounding community are mourning the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Nancy Lee Veasy, a 76-year-old wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who died in a violent car crash on Friday, July 25, 2025.

Nancy was on her way home from a joyful visit with her 1-month-old grandson — a visit her family says brought her immense joy — when tragedy struck along Fulton Industrial Boulevard near Robinson Drive, just after 4:15 p.m.

According to the South Fulton Police Department, the crash involved multiple vehicles and claimed the lives of two people at the scene, including Nancy. Witnesses told authorities and reporters that a truck driver appeared to be driving erratically before swerving across the median into oncoming traffic, crashing into two cars — one of which was being driven by Nancy.

Nancy’s son, Japhet Veasy, was driving behind her when the crash happened. What should have been a routine, peaceful drive home turned into a moment of unimaginable horror. Japhet recounted the traumatic moment he rushed from his vehicle to his mother’s car, only to find that she had not survived the impact.

“That’s the only thing I can imagine right now,” he said tearfully. “I can still see her in the car.”

Nancy’s daughter, Ameera Joe, shared that her mother had just spent time with her infant grandson — a memory that now holds both joy and pain. “She never put the baby down,” she said, echoing the warmth and gentleness that Nancy carried with her throughout her life. “The whole time.”

Nancy’s husband of more than 50 years, Cloys Veasy, remembered his wife as someone whose love for children was limitless: “She wanted to hold them babies — anybody’s baby. She just had that kind of heart.”

For decades, Nancy Lee Veasy was the emotional cornerstone of her family — a devoted wife, a fiercely loving mother, a cherished grandmother, and a loyal friend. Known for her radiant smile, giving spirit, and unwavering faith, Nancy was the kind of woman who left lasting impressions on everyone she met. Whether it was a hug, a prayer, or a warm meal, she gave freely of herself, never expecting anything in return.

Those close to her describe Nancy as a nurturer, someone who always put others first. From her active role in her local church community to the countless lives she touched through acts of quiet generosity, she leaves behind a legacy of compassion and love.

The crash is still under investigation. Authorities say the truck driver was taken into custody at the scene but has not been officially charged as they await toxicology reports and other critical evidence.

A funeral service to honor Nancy’s life and legacy will be held at North Point Community Church in Alpharetta on Sunday, August 11, where family, friends, and loved ones will gather to say their final goodbyes to a woman who gave so much to so many.

Nancy Lee Veasy is survived by her husband Cloys, her children Japhet and Ameera, several grandchildren, and a large extended family who will never forget her warmth, strength, and enduring love.

As the Veasy family faces the difficult days ahead, they ask for prayers, support, and continued calls for justice and road safety.

In loving memory of Nancy Lee Veasy

“Her hands held generations, her love carried them.”
