Jackson, TN — A severe public alert has just been issued by the Jackson Police Department (JPD) after authorities discovered a vehicle linked to murder suspect Austin Drummond abandoned in a wooded area off MCO Road. The 2016 white Audi sedan, which Drummond was believed to be driving, was located around 2:15 p.m. today, unoccupied. Evidence at the scene suggests Drummond may have been living out of the vehicle, possibly for several days.
ACTIVE MANHUNT UNDERWAY
JPD has now expanded the search area, bringing in K-9 units, drones, and aerial support in an effort to locate the fugitive, who is still at large. Authorities warn that Drummond is considered armed and dangerous, and residents in the surrounding area are urged to remain indoors, secure all doors and vehicles, and report anything suspicious immediately.
“We are treating this as an active and high-risk situation,” said a spokesperson from the Jackson PD. “We have reason to believe Drummond is still in the area and may be attempting to hide in nearby woods or abandoned structures.”
BACKGROUND ON THE SUSPECT
Austin Robert Drummond, 28, is the primary suspect in a quadruple homicide that occurred last week in Tiptonville, Tennessee. He has been charged with:
- 4 counts of First-Degree Murder
- 1 count of Aggravated Kidnapping
- 4 counts of Abuse of a Corpse
- Additional charges may be pending as the investigation unfolds.
The brutal crime shocked communities across western Tennessee and prompted a statewide alert from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI). Drummond has been on the run since the killings, and authorities believe he may be growing increasingly desperate as pressure mounts.
VEHICLE DISCOVERY DETAILS
The vehicle — a 2016 white Audi A4, previously listed in the BOLO (Be On the Lookout) — was found deep within a wooded section near MCO Road, not far from rural homes and a small commercial area. According to law enforcement officials, the vehicle showed signs of recent habitation. Blankets, food wrappers, and clothing were discovered inside, leading police to believe that Drummond had been living out of the car while attempting to evade capture.
No weapons were recovered from the vehicle, further heightening concerns that Drummond may still be armed.
COMMUNITY ON HIGH ALERT
The Jackson Police Department, in coordination with local sheriff’s offices, U.S. Marshals, and TBI agents, continues to search the area methodically. Residents near MCO Road and the surrounding rural zones are being told to:
- Lock all doors, windows, and vehicles
- Avoid wooded areas and isolated trails
- Do not approach any suspicious persons
- Call 911 immediately if Drummond is seen or heard
Several schools in the area are on soft lockdown, and local businesses have increased security measures out of caution.
