AUGUSTA, GA — August 4, 2025 — A quiet Sunday evening in Richmond County was shattered by gunfire as the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) responded to a devastating quadruple shooting near the corner of Meadowbrook Drive and Deans Bridge Road. The incident occurred in the parking lot of an Advance Auto Parts store, prompting a large police presence and launching a multi-agency investigation into the deadly violence.
Authorities confirmed that four individuals were shot during the incident. Tragically, one victim has died from their injuries, and another remains in critical condition and is currently receiving emergency treatment at a local hospital. The conditions of the two other victims have not been publicly disclosed at this time.
The shooting unfolded shortly before dusk on Sunday evening, drawing alarmed calls from nearby residents and bystanders who heard multiple rounds of gunfire ring out across the typically busy commercial corridor. Witnesses reported a chaotic scene as victims fell to the pavement and vehicles fled the area at high speed.
Richmond County deputies arrived quickly and secured the area, establishing a perimeter around the Advance Auto parking lot and adjacent businesses. Crime scene tape was strung across the property, and investigators worked well into the night collecting evidence, reviewing surveillance footage, and speaking with potential witnesses.
The identity of the deceased victim has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin. The Sheriff’s Office has not provided information regarding the identities or ages of the other victims, nor have they confirmed whether any suspects have been identified or apprehended.
Authorities are actively working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting—whether it was targeted or random, and what may have led to the violent encounter. Investigators are urging anyone who may have witnessed the shooting, seen suspicious activity in the area, or has video footage from nearby businesses or dashcams to come forward and assist in the investigation.
Anyone with information is strongly encouraged to contact the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 821-1080 or provide anonymous tips through the department’s online tip portal or local Crime Stoppers.
This shooting marks yet another act of senseless violence in a community already grappling with concerns about escalating gun crime. Local leaders and residents alike have expressed sorrow and frustration, calling for unity, increased safety measures, and meaningful steps to prevent such tragedies from becoming routine.
In a brief statement late Sunday night, Sheriff Richard Roundtree said, “This is a tragic situation that has left a community shaken and families devastated. We are doing everything in our power to find out exactly what happened and to bring those responsible to justice. We need the public’s help to ensure that violence like this doesn’t go unanswered.”
As the investigation continues, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office will provide updates as new details become available. In the meantime, the community mourns the life lost and hopes for the recovery of those injured.
This remains a developing story.
