DEWITT COUNTY, TX — August 4, 2025 — The DeWitt County community is mourning the loss of Kyle N. Bounds, 45, of Hudson, who tragically drowned at Clinton Lake on Saturday evening, August 2, 2025. The DeWitt County Coroner, Randy J. Rice, officially identified Mr. Bounds and confirmed his cause of death following the incident.
Authorities were dispatched to Clinton Lake shortly before 8:00 p.m. on Saturday after reports of a man in distress in the water. Emergency responders arrived promptly and found Mr. Bounds unresponsive. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene at 8:04 p.m.
Preliminary findings by the coroner indicate that the cause of death was drowning. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing to determine any contributing factors.
