Serious Pedestrian Accident in Murfreesboro Shuts Down Old Fort Parkway Inbound Lanes

Murfreesboro, TN – August 5, 2025 — A serious traffic incident unfolded just before noon on Tuesday, when a female pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of Old Fort Parkway and New Salem Highway, directly in front of Thornton’s gas station.

According to early reports, the driver of the GMC pickup truck, identified as a 23-year-old male, was exiting Golf Lane and attempting to make a left turn onto Old Fort Parkway when the collision occurred. The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released, was reportedly crossing the roadway when she was hit.

Emergency responders, including Murfreesboro Police and medical personnel, were on the scene within minutes. The woman’s current condition remains unknown, and no further medical updates have been released at this time. She was transported from the scene by ambulance.

Due to the severity of the crash, the Murfreesboro Police Department’s FACT (Fatal Accident Crash Team) was dispatched to conduct a full investigation. The FACT Team is actively working to reconstruct the events leading up to the accident by collecting evidence, making digital measurements, and interviewing any witnesses who were present at the time.

All inbound lanes of Old Fort Parkway have been temporarily closed as investigators process the scene. Traffic has been rerouted, and officials are urging drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. There is currently no official estimate on when the road will reopen, but NewsRadio WGNS will provide updates as they become available.

The Murfreesboro Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant dashcam footage to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.

This incident has raised community concern, especially given the high traffic volume at the intersection of Old Fort Parkway and New Salem Highway, a busy corridor for both motorists and pedestrians. Authorities are expected to review pedestrian crossing safety in the area once the investigation concludes.
