Los Angeles, CA — The community is grieving the tragic loss of Brandon Stennett, a 36-year-old man who was fatally shot in the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in the Westlake District of Los Angeles.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Rampart Division, officers responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 3:00 a.m. at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Westlake Avenue. When they arrived on the scene, they discovered a man lying unresponsive near the intersection. Emergency medical personnel from the Los Angeles Fire Department also responded but unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner later identified the victim as Brandon Stennett, a resident whose life was cut short in a senseless act of violence. Loved ones and community members are expressing deep sorrow over the loss of a man remembered as kind, passionate, and full of life.
Witnesses at the scene told investigators they saw a possible suspect fleeing westbound on Wilshire Boulevard shortly after the shooting. Authorities have not yet released a description of the suspect, and no arrests have been made as of this time.
The case is being actively investigated by the LAPD West Bureau Homicide Unit, who are urging anyone with information to come forward. Detectives are reviewing nearby surveillance footage and speaking with additional witnesses in hopes of identifying the shooter and bringing justice for Brandon and his grieving family.
