BRENTWOOD, Pa. — Authorities in Brentwood are actively investigating a deadly crash that occurred Tuesday evening along a heavily traveled stretch of State Route 51 (Clairton Boulevard), prompting a full closure of the roadway for several hours.
According to the Brentwood Borough Police Department, the incident took place around 7:17 p.m. on August 5, 2025, in the area between Town Square Way and Marylea Avenue. Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene following reports of a serious collision involving at least one car and a motorcycle.
Upon arrival, investigators found a motorcycle lying on its side near the center of the road, within a secured perimeter of crime scene tape. A nearby vehicle appeared to have significant front-end damage, suggesting a high-impact collision. First responders worked diligently to secure the area and attend to those involved, though it was soon confirmed that the crash resulted in a fatality. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending family notification.
As of Tuesday night, Route 51 remained closed between Town Square Way and Marylea Avenue as accident reconstruction teams and investigators processed the scene. The Brentwood Borough Police Department issued a public advisory, urging motorists to seek alternate routes or prepare for delays due to the ongoing closure.
“State Route 51 is closed in both directions for a fatal crash investigation and reconstruction,” the department posted. “Please avoid the area and use caution if traveling nearby.”
Allegheny County 911 dispatchers also confirmed that emergency response teams were dispatched shortly after the crash occurred, but no additional details about how the accident unfolded were immediately released.
Local residents expressed concern over the dangerous nature of Route 51, a notoriously busy corridor that has seen multiple serious accidents in the past. The speed limit and heavy traffic flow often create hazardous conditions, especially during evening hours.
Investigators from both the Brentwood Borough Police Department and Allegheny County Accident Reconstruction Unit are expected to release further information once the initial investigation is complete. They have not said whether any charges will be filed or if impairment or speed may have been factors in the crash.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has relevant dashcam footage to contact the Brentwood Borough Police Department.
As of now, the road closure remains in effect until further notice.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
