MISHAWAKA, IN — August 6, 2025 | 6:45 PM — Mishawaka Police are investigating a disturbing shooting incident that unfolded near 500 E 12th Street earlier this evening, sending shockwaves through a residential neighborhood.
According to preliminary reports, at approximately 6:30 PM, residents in the area heard a series of six gunshots ring out in rapid succession. Witnesses say a silver sedan approached the scene and opened fire on a red Jeep parked or driving in the vicinity. The suspect vehicle then reportedly fled the area, traveling westbound on 12th Street.
In the moments following the gunfire, people were seen running away from the area in apparent fear for their safety. Police arrived on scene shortly thereafter and secured the area, searching for shell casings and possible surveillance footage from nearby homes or businesses.
As of now, there have been no confirmed injuries, but law enforcement has not yet ruled out the possibility that someone may have been struck or hurt in the chaos. Detectives are actively working to identify the individuals involved and determine whether the shooting was targeted or random.
