ARMED ROBBERY, SHOOTING, PURSUIT, AND CRASH LEAD TO MULTIPLE ARRESTS IN NEWARK

Newark, DE – A violent series of events unfolded on the evening of Tuesday, August 5, 2025, resulting in the arrest of four individuals after a reported armed robbery and shooting in a Newark apartment complex led to a high-speed pursuit, vehicle crash, and foot chase.

Gunfire in the Village of Kent Apartments

At approximately 7:10 p.m., officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the 3000 block of Stone Place, located within the Village of Kent Apartment community, following reports of multiple gunshots.

Responding officers discovered that several vehicles and buildings had been struck by gunfire, and multiple shell casings were found littered across the scene. Witnesses provided investigators with a description of the suspect vehicle, a black 2015 Dodge Charger, along with a partial license plate. This critical information was quickly shared across law enforcement radio networks.

High-Speed Pursuit and Crash on South Chapel Street

At around 7:32 p.m., a Delaware State Trooper located the black Dodge Charger speeding through Newark. A pursuit ensued, ending dramatically on South Chapel Street when the Charger rear-ended a white 2019 Toyota Highlander.

The force of the impact caused the Highlander to spin into oncoming traffic, strike a curb and mailbox, and roll over, coming to rest off the roadway. The Charger continued southbound briefly before veering off the road into a nearby field.

The four occupants—Michael Green (18), Taheem Nicholas (24), a 17-year-old male, and a 16-year-old male, all from Newark—fled on foot into a nearby farm field but were quickly apprehended by police.

The driver of the Highlander, an 18-year-old Newark man, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. None of the suspects were injured in the crash.

Armed Robbery and Shooting Investigation

Detectives from the Major Crimes Squad and Evidence Detection Unit responded to process the crime scene and continue the investigation. According to authorities, two victims had traveled to the Stone Place location under the impression they were purchasing a gaming console. Upon arrival, they were approached by two armed suspects—later identified as Michael Green and Taheem Nicholas—who robbed them at gunpoint.

Moments later, gunfire erupted in the area, though no one was hit. During the course of the investigation, multiple firearms were recovered, including a stolen weapon. All four individuals inside the Dodge Charger were formally charged in connection with the robbery, shooting, and pursuit.
