Authorities are currently responding to a serious traffic collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Highway 41 and York Avenue. The crash occurred at approximately 3:10 PM and is being investigated as a possible head-on collision.
According to initial reports, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is on scene alongside paramedics and units from the Kings County Fire Department, including Engine 12 and Engine 9. Emergency responders are currently working to provide aid to the injured and secure the scene.
Two vehicles have been confirmed involved in the collision:
- A gray Toyota Prius, which reportedly has at least one occupant pinned inside the vehicle.
- A black Mercedes, the extent of injuries to the occupants is currently unknown.
Due to the severity of the crash and the nature of the injuries, Skylife Air Ambulance was dispatched to the scene to assist with medical transport. Tragically, at least one fatality has been reported, although the identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
Both directions of Highway 41 are currently blocked at York Avenue while rescue operations and the investigation are underway. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until further notice.
The scene remains active as crews continue extrication efforts and medical evaluations. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by CHP.
