Scott Martin Obituary– Naples Man Fatally Struck in Driveway Crash

NAPLES, MAINE — The community of Naples is mourning the sudden and tragic loss of Scott Martin, a 56-year-old resident who died on Thursday, August 7, 2025, after being struck by a vehicle in a driveway on Roosevelt Trail.

According to a statement from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and emergency personnel from the Naples Fire Department were dispatched to the 200 block of Roosevelt Trail, near 227 Roosevelt Trail, at approximately 4:10 p.m. in response to a serious crash involving two vehicles and a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, first responders discovered that a two-vehicle collision had taken place in a residential driveway. In the aftermath of the crash, Scott Martin, who had been standing in or near the driveway, was found with life-threatening injuries. Despite the efforts of paramedics, Martin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have since identified the driver of the vehicle involved as a 29-year-old man from West Baldwin, who was operating a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee at the time of the incident. According to preliminary findings, the Jeep left the roadway and collided with a parked 2013 Ford van situated in the driveway where Martin was standing.

Investigators noted that the driver of the Jeep swerved off the road in an attempt to avoid another vehicle, which caused the SUV to careen off the pavement and into the driveway, ultimately resulting in the fatal collision.

At this time, officials have not confirmed whether charges will be filed, and the identity of the driver has not been released pending further investigation. The incident remains under active review by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Windham Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit.

Scott Martin was a well-known and respected member of the Naples community. Friends, neighbors, and loved ones describe him as a kind-hearted man with a deep love for the outdoors and a willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need. His sudden and unexpected death has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew him.

As the investigation continues, the Martin family is asking for privacy and peace as they grieve the heartbreaking loss of a beloved son, brother, friend, and neighbor.
