BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD – July 14, 2025 – A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded over the weekend in Baltimore County, where 35-year-old Brittany Howard lost her life in a fatal car crash that remains under investigation. Officials with the Baltimore County Police Department’s Crash Team are actively working to understand the circumstances that led to the devastating incident.
Crash Occurred on Sunday Afternoon
On Sunday, July 13, at approximately 4:10 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the area of Dark Hollow and Dover Roads following a report of a crash involving a single vehicle. According to investigators, a 2024 Ford Edge was traveling northbound on Dark Hollow Road when it unexpectedly left the roadway, struck a fence, and crashed into a private pond located in the 15600 block of Dover Road.
Upon arrival, first responders from the Baltimore County Fire Department discovered the vehicle fully submerged in the pond. Tragically, Brittany Howard, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was found inside. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Multiple Agencies Responded
In addition to the fire department, members of the Carroll County Dive Team assisted in the search and recovery efforts, navigating the difficult conditions of the submerged vehicle to bring closure to the tragic situation.
Officials say Brittany’s vehicle may have been obscured from view for some time due to its position in the pond. The crash’s impact and the remote location made the rescue and recovery effort especially challenging.
Investigation Remains Ongoing
At this time, the cause of the crash remains undetermined, and detectives are continuing their investigation. They are examining several possible factors, including medical emergencies, environmental conditions, mechanical failure, or other potential causes that may have contributed to the accident.
No other vehicles were believed to be involved, and no additional injuries were reported.
