DETROIT — A night of summer fun turned to tragedy late Saturday when a violent stabbing erupted during a pool party at an Airbnb rental on Detroit’s east side, leaving two people dead and two others injured, according to police.
The incident occurred on Fleming Street, near East Seven Mile Road and Conant Street, in a quiet residential neighborhood that was jolted awake by the sounds of sirens and police activity. Authorities say the party, which drew a sizable crowd, had been going on for hours before an altercation escalated into deadly violence.
Police were called to the scene late in the evening and arrived to find four people suffering from stab wounds. Two of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The other two, whose injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening, were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Investigators believe the stabbings may have stemmed from a dispute that broke out among partygoers, but the exact cause of the violence remains unclear. The suspect fled the scene on foot before officers arrived, and no arrests have been made.
Detectives spent hours processing the scene, gathering evidence, and speaking with witnesses. Neighbors reported seeing numerous people running from the property after the violence erupted, some screaming for help.
“This is supposed to be a safe block,” one resident said. “You never expect something like this to happen right next door, especially at what’s supposed to be just a party.”
Police are urging anyone with information, video footage, or knowledge of the suspect’s whereabouts to contact the Detroit Police Department or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
The names of the victims have not yet been released, pending family notification.
If you want, I can also make a crime scene–style report for this case with more sensory details and a sharper narrative flow. That would make it read like a breaking news crime feature.
