ECTOR COUNTY, Texas — Tragedy struck late Friday night when a truck driven by an Odessa resident went airborne and rolled over in Ector County, resulting in a fatal crash, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of North Wire Line Road and Loop 338. Preliminary reports indicate that 30-year-old Daniel Hernandez Mijares, of Odessa, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 southbound on North Wire Line Road, approaching Loop 338.
Authorities say Hernandez failed to maintain his lane, veering off the right side of the roadway. His vehicle struck an embankment on the west side of Loop 338, causing the truck to become airborne before rolling over multiple times.
