EDWARDSVILLE, IL – The Edwardsville Police Department is actively investigating a tragic traffic incident that resulted in the death of a pedestrian early Monday morning, August 11. The crash occurred at approximately 4 a.m. in the 200 block of East Union Street, sending shockwaves through the community.
An elderly male pedestrian, aged 86, was struck by a vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. Despite swift emergency response, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time out of respect for the family and pending official notification.
The driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with authorities. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under thorough investigation.
