In Memory of Retired Captain David Pauluhn

It is with great sadness that the Overland community announces the passing of Retired Captain David “Dave” Pauluhn, a respected law enforcement leader, dedicated public servant, and cherished member of the Overland Police Department family. Captain Pauluhn’s career and life were marked by integrity, commitment, and an unwavering dedication to the safety and well-being of others.

Dave began his service to the Overland Police Department in 1991, following his earlier years as a reserve police officer with the department. Over the decades, his career path reflected not only professional excellence but also a deep commitment to serving his community in a variety of roles. He served as a patrol officer, DARE Officer, Patrol Corporal, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. His versatility and leadership extended to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, where he worked as a Detective, Sergeant, and Lieutenant before ultimately earning the rank of Captain.

A proud graduate of the FBI National Academy, Captain Pauluhn embodied the highest standards of law enforcement professionalism. Known for his sharp investigative skills, compassionate leadership, and ability to connect with community members, Dave left an indelible mark on those he served alongside and the citizens he protected.

Throughout his career, he was a familiar and respected figure across Overland, building trust and lasting relationships with residents, businesses, and fellow officers. Even after his retirement in 2018, Captain Pauluhn remained a valued and active presence in the community he loved so deeply.

His passing is not only a loss to his family and friends but to the entire Overland Police Department and the broader law enforcement community. He will be remembered as a mentor, a leader, and a friend—a man who wore the badge with pride and served with honor until his final day in uniform.

The Overland Police Department honors his legacy and extends heartfelt condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Brother—your watch has ended, but your service and impact will never be forgotten.
