12-Year-Old Boy Critically Injured After Being Hit by Car in Aurora Crosswalk

Aurora, Colorado (July 19, 2025) — A tragic accident in Aurora has left a 12-year-old boy in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing a busy intersection on his scooter. The incident occurred near East Iliff Avenue and South Wheel Park Circle, an area frequently used by families and pedestrians.

According to the Aurora Police Department (APD), the boy was riding his scooter and used the designated crosswalk, properly activating the pedestrian cross signal to safely cross the street. Witnesses confirmed that traffic was supposed to be stopped at the time, and the signal was visibly engaged when the child entered the intersection.

Tragically, a 19-year-old driver failed to heed the activated crosswalk signals and plowed into the child, striking him with such force that emergency responders were immediately called to the scene. First responders arrived quickly and rendered life-saving aid before the boy was transported to a nearby hospital, where he is currently fighting for his life in critical condition.

Police say the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Early findings from APD indicate that the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but was simply not paying attention to the road or the active pedestrian signal at the time of the collision.

“This is a heartbreaking and completely preventable tragedy,” said an Aurora PD spokesperson. “Drivers must stay alert, especially near intersections, school zones, and pedestrian crossings. A child’s life has been irreparably harmed by a moment of inattention.”

The incident has reignited community concern about traffic safety in the area, especially for children and families who regularly cross East Iliff Avenue. Local residents report that, while the crosswalk is clearly marked and outfitted with signal lights, many drivers routinely ignore the pedestrian right-of-way.

The Aurora Police Traffic Investigations Unit is continuing to gather evidence and speak with witnesses. Charges against the 19-year-old driver have not yet been announced, pending further review of the evidence and coordination with the District Attorney’s Office.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam or security footage of the incident to come forward and contact the Aurora Police Department Tip Line.

    A Community in Shock

The community is rallying around the injured boy and his family, who are asking for privacy during this unimaginably difficult time. A growing memorial of flowers and messages has begun forming near the intersection where the crash occurred.

Local advocacy groups are also calling for increased driver education, enforcement of pedestrian right-of-way laws, and possible infrastructure improvements to protect children in high-risk areas.

  • Tragedy at Pageland Watermelon Festival: Jayden Jefferies Charged in Fatal Shooting of 17-Year-Old Sean Davis

Tragedy at Pageland Watermelon Festival: Jayden Jefferies Charged in Fatal Shooting of 17-Year-Old Sean Davis

PAGELAND, S.C. — A devastating act of violence has shaken the tight-knit community of Pageland after the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Sean Davis during the beloved Pageland Watermelon Festival on Friday night. Authorities have now confirmed that Jayden Jeremiah Jefferies, also 17 and a resident of Chesterfield County, has been arrested and charged in connection with the killing.

The shooting occurred near the intersection of McGregor and South Pearl Street, not far from the heart of the annual festival — an event typically filled with food, music, and celebration. Instead, the community was left stunned as emergency crews responded to a scene of chaos and heartbreak.

Late Saturday night, Jefferies was formally charged with murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and possession of a concealed weapon — all serious felony offenses. He was taken into custody and booked into the Chesterfield County Jail, where officials confirm his bond was denied due to the severity of the charges.

The bond denial follows standard procedure in South Carolina for murder and other violent felony cases, where bond decisions must be made by a circuit court judge during a general sessions court hearing — not by a county magistrate. Jefferies will remain behind bars until that hearing takes place.

    A Promising Life Cut Short

The victim, Sean Davis, was a rising senior at Central High School, where he was known as a talented and driven student-athlete. Davis was a proud member of both the Central High School football and track teams, and according to head football coach Jonathan Eason, he was “a leader on and off the field — someone teammates looked up to.”

The Central High track team had been scheduled to run in the Watermelon Festival’s 5K race on Saturday morning, and Sean was among the participants. What should have been a day of celebration and camaraderie turned into mourning, as friends and classmates woke to the unimaginable news of Sean’s death.

    Community Grieves a Devastating Loss

The news of the fatal shooting sent shockwaves through Pageland and surrounding Chesterfield County communities. Vigils have already begun to take shape, and messages of condolences have poured in from students, coaches, school officials, and festival attendees.

“This is something no parent, no school, and no town should ever have to experience,” said one community leader. “Sean had a bright future, and his life was stolen before it had truly begun.”

    The Investigation Continues

Authorities have not yet disclosed a motive in the shooting or any details about the circumstances that led up to the incident. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence, review surveillance footage, and interview witnesses who were at or near the scene Friday night.

Police have confirmed that Jayden Jefferies was apprehended without incident, though the investigation is ongoing and additional charges could follow pending the outcome of forensic and witness reviews.

In the meantime, law enforcement officials are urging the public to refrain from spreading rumors online and to allow the justice system to proceed appropriately.

    Honoring Sean Davis

As the community reels from the tragedy, friends and classmates are remembering Sean Davis for his unwavering work ethic, his humility, and his vibrant personality. Teachers at Central High describe him as respectful, driven, and kind — the kind of student who inspired others just by being himself.

“He gave everything to his team and his school,” one coach said. “We were looking forward to seeing what he would accomplish — both in athletics and in life. He deserved that chance.”

Counselors will be made available to students and staff at Central High School in the coming days as the school begins to cope with this tremendous loss.

    Justice and Healing Ahead

As Jayden Jeremiah Jefferies awaits a court appearance that could change the course of his own life forever, a grieving community is left grappling with questions of youth violence, community safety, and how to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

The memory of Sean Davis, however, will not be forgotten. His name will live on — in the halls of his high school, on the field where he trained, and in the hearts of those who knew him best.

  • Tragedy at Pageland Watermelon Festival: 17-Year-Old Jayden Jeremiah Jefferies Charged in Fatal Shooting of Fellow Teen Sean Davis

Tragedy at Pageland Watermelon Festival: 17-Year-Old Jayden Jeremiah Jefferies Charged in Fatal Shooting of Fellow Teen Sean Davis

PAGELAND, S.C. — A community is in mourning following a devastating act of violence that unfolded Friday night during the annual Pageland Watermelon Festival — a beloved local tradition meant to celebrate community and youth. Instead, the event was marred by tragedy as 17-year-old Sean Davis, a promising student-athlete at Central High School, was fatally shot near the heart of the festivities.

Late Saturday evening, authorities confirmed the arrest of Jayden Jeremiah Jefferies, also 17 and a resident of Chesterfield County. According to the Pageland Police Department, Jefferies has been charged with murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and possession of a concealed weapon.

He was booked into the Chesterfield County Jail, where a judge denied bond, citing the severity of the charges and ongoing safety concerns. Investigators have not yet released a motive for the shooting, and it remains unclear whether the two teens knew each other prior to the incident.

    A Community Rocked by Violence

The shooting occurred during one of Pageland’s largest events of the year — the Watermelon Festival, an annual celebration that draws residents from across Chesterfield County and beyond. Authorities say the shooting happened amid a crowd of festival-goers, sending shockwaves through the event and leading to the cancellation of the remaining festival activities, including Saturday’s highly anticipated 5K run.

The tragedy has deeply affected the local school community, where Sean Davis was widely known as a bright and driven young man. A junior at Central High School, Davis was a standout athlete, competing in both football and track and field. He was scheduled to compete in the Watermelon Festival 5K the very next morning — a race that now serves as a solemn reminder of the promise that was cut short.

“Sean was the kind of student you hope every kid can be — respectful, dedicated, and full of potential,” said one of his coaches. “To lose him like this, in our own backyard, is heartbreaking beyond words.”

    Investigation Ongoing

The Pageland Police Department, assisted by the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office and SLED (South Carolina Law Enforcement Division), is continuing the investigation. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from local businesses and festival vendors, as well as interviewing witnesses who may have seen the moments leading up to the shooting.

“This should have been a weekend of joy and community,” said one Pageland city official. “Instead, we’re left grieving the senseless loss of a young life and asking how something like this could happen.”

Police have not disclosed whether any additional suspects are being sought, nor have they revealed how Jefferies may have acquired the weapon used in the crime.

    Remembering Sean Davis

In the wake of the tragedy, a memorial of flowers, track spikes, and handwritten messages has begun to grow outside Central High School. Former teachers, teammates, and friends have been gathering to honor Davis, whose memory is already being etched into the soul of the Pageland community.

“He was more than just an athlete — he was a brother, a friend, and a light in so many people’s lives,” said classmate Amari Lewis. “Pageland won’t be the same without him.”

School officials announced that grief counselors will be available on campus throughout the coming week to support students and staff.

    Justice Sought, Healing Begins

As Jayden Jeremiah Jefferies faces charges that could carry decades in prison, questions continue to loom about what led to the violent confrontation and how a gun made its way into the hands of a teenager at a public celebration. Advocates and community leaders are urging for a broader discussion on youth violence, gun access, and community safety in small towns like Pageland.

A candlelight vigil is being planned in Sean Davis’s honor, with organizers encouraging participants to wear Central High School colors and bring photos or mementos to share.

In this moment of deep sorrow, Pageland remembers not only a lost young man but a community’s need to come together, support one another, and strive to prevent future tragedies like this from ever happening again.

  • California Tragedy: Former CHP Officer Kills Wife and Commits Suicide After Separate Police Calls Hundreds of Miles Apart

California Tragedy: Former CHP Officer Kills Wife and Commits Suicide After Separate Police Calls Hundreds of Miles Apart

GARDEN GROVE, CALIFORNIA — A deeply disturbing chain of events unfolded on Thursday, ending in a double tragedy that spanned over 350 miles and left two children without their parents. Authorities say 37-year-old Crystal Gonzalez and her husband, 35-year-old Miguel Lopez, were both found dead under harrowing circumstances that point to a murder-suicide involving domestic violence.

The incident began in Garden Grove just after 8:00 a.m., when a young girl called 911, pleading for help for her mother. Garden Grove police officers responded to a short-term rental home on Morgan Lane, where they made a horrifying discovery: Crystal Gonzalez was found dead inside the residence. The couple’s two young children, who were in the home at the time, were found unharmed and reportedly unaware of what had happened to their mother.

Investigators quickly identified Gonzalez’s husband, Miguel Lopez, as a person of interest and initiated a search for his whereabouts. Hours later, a tip from family members placed Lopez’s car over 300 miles north in Stockton, prompting further police response.

According to the Stockton Police Department, Lopez arrived at the Elk Horn Reserve Country Club, where he fatally shot a 54-year-old man—whose identity has not yet been released—before turning the gun on himself.

The couple shared a home in Lodi, just six miles south of the Stockton golf club, indicating Lopez may have returned to familiar territory after fleeing the Garden Grove crime scene.

    A Troubling Background

Lopez was no stranger to law enforcement. He was a former officer with the California Highway Patrol (CHP), having joined the Hayward office in 2017 before transferring to the Stockton area in 2020. He separated from the CHP in 2022 for reasons that have not been disclosed.

In a statement released Thursday evening, the CHP addressed the incident involving their former colleague:

“The alleged conduct of this former employee does not reflect the professionalism of the thousands of CHP members who pledge to provide the highest level of Safety, Service, and Security to the people of California. The CHP extends its thoughts and prayers to the families and friends of those involved in this terrible tragedy. All questions regarding the incident should be directed to the Stockton Police Department.”

    No Signs of Forced Entry

Back in Garden Grove, detectives noted that there was no evidence of forced entry at the Morgan Lane residence, suggesting that Lopez may have entered willingly or was granted access. Surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts confirmed that Lopez was seen leaving the area early Thursday morning.

Though the motive is still under investigation, the coordinated nature of the incidents—along with Lopez’s prior training in law enforcement—has added complexity to the case.

    Children Caught in the Crossfire

The two children, who are now in the custody of relatives, have been described as traumatized but physically unharmed. Authorities have not specified their ages but confirmed that both were Gonzalez and Lopez’s biological children.

“The most heartbreaking element of this tragedy is that two innocent children are now left without both parents,” said one Garden Grove officer at the scene. “We are working with child welfare and family services to ensure their emotional and psychological needs are met.”

    A Community in Shock

The double loss of life and the disturbing nature of the events have stunned communities across both Southern and Northern California. Crystal Gonzalez, remembered by friends as a devoted mother and kind-hearted woman, had reportedly been staying at the rental in Garden Grove temporarily. Her friends say she may have been seeking distance from Lopez, though this has not been officially confirmed.

Meanwhile, neighbors in Lodi and Stockton expressed disbelief that Lopez—described as quiet and reserved—could have carried out such horrific violence.

    Ongoing Investigation

Both the Garden Grove Police Department and Stockton Police Department continue to investigate the sequence of events, including Lopez’s possible motive, mental state, and whether any warning signs were previously missed.

Autopsies will be performed, and investigators are expected to examine the couple’s history, including any past incidents of domestic abuse or legal trouble. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the firearm used in the shootings was legally owned.

    A Call for Awareness

This tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of domestic violence and mental health crises, especially when left unchecked. Advocates are calling for increased support systems for families dealing with instability or abuse and more robust interventions when former law enforcement personnel show signs of distress or aggression.

As the investigation continues, friends, family, and the broader community are left grieving and searching for answers. A candlelight vigil is expected to be held in Garden Grove in the coming days to honor Crystal Gonzalez’s memory and provide support for the surviving children.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233). Help is available.

  • Historic South Carolina Church Engulfed in Flames: Authorities Investigating Fire at Pleasant Grove Baptist

Historic South Carolina Church Engulfed in Flames: Authorities Investigating Fire at Pleasant Grove Baptist

Darlington County, SC — A devastating fire broke out Saturday at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, a historic place of worship deeply rooted in the Darlington County community. According to the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO), deputies responded swiftly to reports of a blaze at the church and arrived to find the structure fully engulfed in flames.

The fire has left the community reeling, especially given the historical significance of the church, which was founded in 1869 by Reverend Daniel Jesse shortly after the Civil War. Pleasant Grove Baptist Church has stood for over 150 years as a symbol of faith, resilience, and community for generations of South Carolinians. It is considered one of the oldest churches in the region, with a legacy that reflects a long-standing tradition of spiritual leadership and service.

    A Coordinated Investigation Underway

The fire prompted a rapid response from the Darlington County Fire District, who worked alongside deputies to contain the flames. As of Saturday evening, officials have not released any information on whether the fire is considered suspicious, but the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has joined the investigation to determine the cause and origin of the blaze.

“The investigation is active and ongoing,” a spokesperson for the DCSO said in a brief statement. “We are working closely with fire officials and SLED to understand how this tragic event occurred.”

So far, no injuries have been reported, and no arrests have been made. The full extent of the damage to the church has not yet been assessed, but witnesses say the structure appeared to suffer extensive fire damage, possibly beyond repair.

Community Response: A Legacy at Risk

The loss of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church is more than physical—it’s deeply emotional for many in the local community. Generations of families have worshipped there, been baptized there, married there, and laid loved ones to rest under its roof. Its destruction has triggered a wave of sorrow and reflection.

“I was married in that church, and so were my parents,” said longtime member Evelyn Johnson, who rushed to the scene upon hearing the news. “It’s more than a building. It’s where we found peace, unity, and hope. My heart is broken.”

Others gathered near the scene, some in tears, watching helplessly as flames consumed a cornerstone of their heritage.

Local leaders and church elders have expressed their intent to rebuild if possible, and support from neighboring congregations has already begun to pour in. “This is a time for unity and prayer,” said one pastor from a nearby church. “The building may be gone, but the church—the people—are still standing.”

    A Call for Information

As the investigation continues, the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have been in the area or who has information about the fire to come forward. Investigators are particularly interested in eyewitness accounts, security footage, or reports of suspicious activity near the church on Saturday morning.

Tips can be shared directly with DCSO at (843) 398-4501, or through Crime Stoppers of the Pee Dee at 1-888-CRIME-SC, where anonymous information can be provided.

    Moving Forward

Though much remains unknown, what’s clear is that the destruction of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church is a significant loss for the Darlington County community—historically, spiritually, and emotionally. As firefighters continue to monitor the site and investigators comb through the ashes, one thing remains certain: the spirit of the congregation and its legacy of more than 150 years will not be extinguished by fire.

More details will be released as the investigation develops. Stay with local news outlets and official channels for updates.

Terrifying Attack at Tennessee Walmart: Six Injured, One Critical After Rampage by Unidentified Man

TENNESSEE — A shocking and violent scene unfolded inside a Walmart store on Saturday when an unidentified man, believed to be homeless, launched a biting attack that left six people injured—one of them critically.

The suspect, who has not yet been named by authorities, entered the store in a disoriented state around midday. Witnesses said he appeared to be “in a daze” and possibly living on the streets. What followed was a chaotic and deeply disturbing episode that left shoppers and staff reeling.

A Violent Encounter with Only His Teeth

According to eyewitness Rachel Stephenson, who was shopping at the time, the man wandered aimlessly into the store, looking detached and unstable. When approached by a Walmart employee, he suddenly lunged and sank his teeth into the worker’s arm.

“As soon as the employee got close, he attacked and bit down hard,” Stephenson recalled. “Another man tried to help, and the suspect turned and bit him right in the neck. There was blood everywhere. It was terrifying.”

Stephenson also said the man’s teeth looked unusually sharp, almost like “fangs,” and that his behavior was completely unhinged. “Every time someone tried to stop him, he lashed out and bit them.”

    Customers Step In—and Get Bitten

Three more individuals—two customers and a second employee—attempted to restrain the attacker. All were bitten in the process. Eventually, with help from several bystanders, they managed to bring the man down and restrain him using belts and nearby items until law enforcement arrived.

In total, six people were bitten. One victim, who was bitten in the neck, was transported to the hospital in critical condition due to a severed artery. The remaining victims are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

    Suspect in Custody, Identity Unknown

The suspect, who remains unidentified, was taken into custody and transported to a Tennessee psychiatric hospital for evaluation. Authorities have not yet determined whether drugs or other substances played a role in the violent outburst. He carried no identification, and his name has not been released.

    A Community Left in Shock

The attack has sent shockwaves through the local community, raising concerns about safety, mental health care, and public awareness.

“This is something you’d expect in a movie, not in real life,” said one customer. “It was a nightmare—he was growling, biting, and just wouldn’t stop.”

Local police praised the courage of those who stepped in to protect others. “Had it not been for the brave actions of several customers and store employees, this could have been even worse,” an officer said.

    Investigation Ongoing

Police are now working to confirm the suspect’s identity and determine what led to the attack. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and asking for the public’s help in identifying the man. For now, no charges have been filed pending the outcome of his psychiatric evaluation.

Anyone with information about the suspect is urged to contact local authorities immediately.

As the community recovers from this traumatic event, many are expressing gratitude for the bystanders who stepped up—and deep concern for the victims, especially the individual still fighting for their life in the hospital.
