Gautreau of Lake Charles for the alleged possession of child sexual abuse material and a video depicting sexual abuse of an animal. According to a press release issued by the CPSO, detectives with the Special Victims Unit launched an investigation after receiving a cyber-tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Following the tip, a search warrant was obtained for Gautreau’s residence, where digital evidence was seized and later analyzed by forensics experts. That examination, according to CPSO, uncovered nine counts of pornography involving juveniles, commonly referred to as child sexual abuse material, as well as evidence of sexual abuse of animals, including a video of bestiality allegedly in his possession.

As the investigation intensifies, the Butte Police Department is urging residents—especially those living near Locust, Garfield, and Grand Avenue—to check their home security or doorbell camera footage for any signs of a vehicle passing through between 12:15 a.m. and 12:45 a.m.

Even small details such as the sound of screeching tires, a vehicle speeding by, or a car with unusual damage could be critical to the investigation.

“We are asking our community to help us connect the dots,” Sheriff Lester stated. “You might think a detail is too small to matter—but it could be the key to solving this case.”

Law enforcement officers have also begun canvassing local businesses and homes in the vicinity of the crash site, looking for any additional surveillance footage or eyewitness accounts.
