From his earliest years, Andrew shone brightly—full of joy, energy, and a heart that radiated kindness.

Andrew was a student in the Dassel-Cokato School District from kindergarten through his junior year. His peers and teachers knew him as someone who exuded positivity, who gave his all in every activity, and who had a magnetic personality that drew others in. He formed deep, enduring friendships, marked by his generosity, loyalty, and ever-present sense of humor.

More than just a student, Andrew was a worker, leader, and light within his community. He worked closely with his father at the family’s cabinet shop, where he quickly became an irreplaceable part of the team. Andrew had a gift for making people feel valued and motivated. His natural leadership and high energy made the workspace feel more like a family gathering than just a job site. Whether lifting heavy materials or lifting spirits, Andrew was always all-in.

Outside of work and school, Andrew embraced life with fullness and joy. He was rarely still—always in motion, always present, always involved. He loved golfing, laughing with his siblings and friends, and spending time with his nieces and nephews, who were drawn to his goofy, lovable nature. His playful antics, bear hugs, and willingness to get down on the floor for a game made him their hero. He also took pride in tackling hands-on projects, whether lending a hand at home or jumping in to help a cousin rebuild a truck.

Those who knew Andrew often remarked on his unique combination of lightheartedness and wisdom. He had an uncanny ability to make others feel seen and understood. He didn’t just bring people together—he kept them together. He had a peacemaker’s heart and a firm commitment to resolve conflicts with love and sincerity. He knew how to say the right words at the right time, never letting hard feelings linger. His deep emotional intelligence made him wise beyond his years.

Most of all, Andrew was a young man of profound Christian faith. That faith guided him, comforted him, and defined the way he lived. He held fast to the Gospel and found joy in fellowship, service, and prayer. His family takes comfort knowing that he has gone to be with his Savior, and that his life, though short, was rich in love and centered on what truly matters.

Andrew’s legacy is one of joy, connection, and grace. He leaves behind a family who cherished him beyond words: his devoted parents, Gregory and Shanna Koivisto; his siblings, Blayne (Abigail), Abigail (Hans Siltala), Nicholas (Jade), Hans (Akia), Jack, Ellen, Greta, Clayton, Landon, Sam, Leo, and Jane Koivisto; and 11 treasured nieces and nephews who looked up to him with love. According to the preliminary investigation, Timothy Neyenhaus was operating a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado when his vehicle left the roadway and became lodged in a culvert, coming to rest partially in the southbound lane of State Road 145. Their vehicles were positioned and stationary in the northbound lane as they aided Neyenhaus.
