Beloved Club Owner and Barber Paul “Junebug” Stevenson Among 2 Killed, 15 Injured in Southeast Houston Drive-By Shooting

HOUSTON, TX — A night meant for celebration turned into a heartbreaking tragedy when gunfire erupted outside a southeast Houston nightclub late Sunday, July 13, claiming the lives of two people and injuring 15 others in a violent drive-by shooting, according to the Houston Police Department. Among the deceased was Paul “Junebug” Stevenson, a respected Houston barber and the owner of the nightclub where the shooting occurred.

Paul was a well-known community figure, admired for his kindness, entrepreneurial drive, and dedication to uplifting those around him.

The second victim, a 21-year-old woman, has not yet been publicly identified pending notification of her family. She was reportedly arriving at the club when the gunfire broke out.

The shooting took place shortly after 11:45 p.m. in the parking lot of the nightclub located near Dixie Road and Heffernan Street. According to investigators, a vehicle drove past the venue and opened fire on a group gathered outside. When officers arrived, they discovered a chaotic and devastating scene—multiple victims wounded, and two lives already lost.

Friends describe him as a positive force, someone who built more than just a business—he built connection, trust, and respect. His death has left a painful void.

“He was more than a businessman,” said one close friend. “He was someone you could count on. He gave people chances, he showed up for others. Losing him like this is a tragedy beyond words.”

The 15 others injured in the shooting were rushed to area hospitals. Some remain in critical condition, and their names have not yet been released. Authorities are continuing to gather information and review surveillance footage to determine who was responsible for the attack.

On social media, tributes are pouring in under the hashtags #RIPJunebug and #JusticeForJunebug, honoring a man who touched many lives through his warmth, generosity, and unwavering spirit.

Tragedy in Montgomery: 15-Year-Old Brantley McNabb Among Three Killed in Series of Shootings

Montgomery, AL — A wave of violence has rocked the Montgomery community, leaving families devastated and the city grieving after three people were killed in separate but potentially related shootings between Thursday and Saturday. Among the victims was 15-year-old Brantley McNabb, a young teenager whose life was tragically cut short, along with 27-year-old Malik Benson and 26-year-old Dekeith Whatley.

The violent series of events began on Thursday, July 10, when Montgomery police officers and fire medics were dispatched to the 1100 block of Air Base Boulevard around 2:41 p.m., responding to a report of someone being shot. When first responders arrived on the scene, they found Brantley McNabb suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite emergency efforts, the teen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Just two days later, on Saturday, July 12, Montgomery police responded to two more shootings that appear to be connected, according to early reports. At 3:55 p.m., officers were called to the 400 block of North California Street and the 2700 block of Upper Wetumpka Road, where two more victims were discovered.

On North California Street, officers found Malik Benson, age 27, deceased at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound. Not long after, Dekeith Whatley, 26, was located on Upper Wetumpka Road with life-threatening injuries. Despite the efforts of emergency medical personnel, Whatley was also pronounced dead shortly after being found.

  • Remembering Shelby Haynie: 16-Year-Old Tragically Killed in Hart County Car Accident

Remembering Shelby Haynie: 16-Year-Old Tragically Killed in Hart County Car Accident

Hart County, Georgia – July 13, 2025 – With profound sorrow and heavy hearts, the Hart County community is mourning the tragic and untimely death of Shelby Haynie, a vibrant 16-year-old whose life was cut short in a single-vehicle accident on the evening of Sunday, July 13, 2025.

The fatal crash occurred around 6:45 PM along the 3500 block of Montevideo Road, a quiet rural stretch near the border of Hart and Elbert Counties. According to officials from the Hart County Sheriff’s Office, emergency responders from Hart County Fire and EMS, along with support from Elbert County units, arrived at the scene to find a devastating situation: a Ford F-150 pickup truck had overturned in a field, coming to rest on its side with extensive damage.

Inside the truck was Shelby Haynie, a passenger in the vehicle and beloved daughter, student, and friend. Despite the swift arrival of first responders and their determined efforts to save her, Shelby was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, who has not yet been publicly identified, had exited the vehicle before authorities arrived and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

As news of Shelby’s death spread throughout the area, waves of shock, disbelief, and grief rippled through the tight-knit communities of Hart and Elbert Counties. Tributes have begun to appear near the crash site—bouquets of flowers, handwritten notes, and small crosses placed gently in the grass by mourners struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of such a young and promising life.

    A Life Gone Too Soon

Shelby Haynie was more than a name in a tragic headline. She was a young woman full of promise—kind-hearted, driven, full of laughter, and beloved by her friends, classmates, teachers, and neighbors. Whether cheering from the stands at school events, studying hard in class, or spending quiet moments with her family, Shelby was known for her genuine spirit, infectious smile, and the compassion she carried for those around her.

“She was the kind of girl who made everyone feel like they mattered,” one classmate said through tears. “She had a light about her—something you couldn’t ignore. This is just so unfair.”

As a student, Shelby had begun thinking about her future—dreams of college, adventures ahead, and the milestones that so many her age look forward to. Her loss is not only felt in the emptiness it leaves behind but in the future that will never be lived.

    Investigating the Tragedy

The Georgia State Patrol is leading the investigation into the accident. Troopers are reviewing the scene, interviewing witnesses, and examining the wreckage to determine the contributing factors. Authorities have noted that excessive speed, distracted driving, mechanical issues, or road conditions could have played a role, but as of now, no definitive cause has been determined.

In a statement, Hart County Sheriff Chris Carroll offered words of comfort to the grieving family and community:

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and all those affected by this tragic loss. This is a heartbreaking situation, and we are keeping everyone involved in our thoughts and prayers. We are also grateful to all the agencies who responded so quickly and professionally to the scene.”

Officials are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has relevant information to contact law enforcement to aid in the ongoing investigation.

    A Community in Mourning

The loss of a young life resonates deeply in a community like Hart County, where families are closely connected, and neighbors often feel more like extended relatives. In the coming days, local schools are expected to provide grief counseling and emotional support services for students and staff grappling with Shelby’s passing.

Faith communities, friends, and civic leaders have come together to express their condolences and organize vigils in honor of Shelby. One community member shared, “We are just shattered. She was so young, so full of life. There aren’t words that can fully capture what this means to us.”

In times like this, the strength of community is essential—holding one another up in mourning, reflecting on the fragility of life, and committing once again to protect the lives of the young people who are our future.

    Honoring Shelby’s Legacy

Though Shelby’s time on this earth was tragically short, the impact she made was lasting. Her memory will live on in the stories shared by her friends, the love of her family, and the spirit she brought into the world. Plans for a public memorial and funeral services are expected to be announced in the coming days.

In her honor, those who knew Shelby are encouraged to celebrate the kindness she showed, the dreams she pursued, and the joy she gave so freely. Whether through a gesture of compassion, a moment of silence, or a commitment to safer roads, her legacy will continue.

Rest in peace, Shelby Haynie. You were loved, and you will never be forgotten.

  • Remembering Sean Murphy: Beloved Drummer and Bartender at Richmond Tavern Passes Away at 49

Remembering Sean Murphy: Beloved Drummer and Bartender at Richmond Tavern Passes Away at 49

London,Ontario — July 13, 2025 – The city of London, Ontario is mourning the heartbreaking loss of one of its most beloved cultural figures. Sean Murphy—bartender, drummer, friend, and pillar of the local arts and nightlife community—passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 49. His death followed complications from a long-standing stomach illness he had battled courageously for over a year.

To know Sean Murphy was to love him. Whether you encountered him behind the bar at the iconic Richmond Tavern or watched him behind a drum kit with his punk rock band The Nervousmen, Sean left an impression that never faded. With a quick wit, a kind smile, and an unmistakable sense of rhythm—in music and in life—he was the beating heart of downtown London’s creative community.

    The Soul of Richmond Tavern

Sean wasn’t just a bartender—he was a living part of the soul of Richmond Tavern, London’s oldest live music venue and a cultural mainstay in the city. For years, Sean served as the regular Friday and Saturday night bartender, expertly navigating the bustling crowds while supporting the musical acts on stage.

But he did far more than pour drinks. Sean booked shows, welcomed touring bands, championed local artists, and helped cultivate the Tavern’s unique, gritty, and welcoming atmosphere.

Mark Dencev, the Tavern’s owner and Sean’s friend since their teenage years working in a call center, spoke of him with deep emotion:

“Sean was the perfect dive bar bartender—warm, charismatic, and a natural people person. He was comfortable and welcoming, he loved to sling the pints, and he was friends with everybody. He was the guy I could depend on. He was a staple at the Rich, and I miss him greatly. It’s been really devastating.”

    A Heartfelt Community

When Sean’s illness forced him to step away from work last year, the outpouring of love and support was immediate. Bands and fans from every corner of the city came together for a fundraiser show in his honor—one of the most moving and unifying nights the Tavern had ever seen.

It was a moment that spoke volumes about Sean’s impact. The packed venue, the heartfelt performances, and the sheer volume of well-wishers stood as a testament to the lives he touched—quietly, sincerely, and meaningfully.

    The Drummer Behind the Beat

Beyond the bar, Sean’s artistic expression came alive behind a drum kit. As the drummer for The Nervousmen, a punk outfit he co-founded seven years ago, Sean helped shape the band’s fierce yet heartfelt sound. But his connection to music ran deeper. He began drumming in the mid-1990s as a student at H.B. Beal Secondary School, a place that nurtured his early creative spark.

Over the years, Sean’s raw talent, passion for music, and tireless support for fellow musicians made him a respected elder statesman in the local punk and rock scenes. He wasn’t loud about it—but everyone knew who he was, and everyone knew he was the real deal.

Steve Bennett, Sean’s best friend and bandmate, reflected:

“Sean was just a guy everybody liked. He really became a fixture in the London music scene. Everybody’s been sharing photos and videos, and it’s been comforting for his family to see all the appreciation.”

Another longtime friend, Gary Pullin, who knew Sean from high school, summed up his spirit perfectly:

“Sean wasn’t starving to be popular. It was about the music. He was always real, always steady. Everyone who knows Sean has a story.”

    A City Says Goodbye

Social media has been filled with tributes, each post a small window into the enormous impact Sean had on people’s lives. One especially moving message came from downtown bar The Holy Diver:

“A steady hand, a sharp wit, and a heart that made room for everyone. From pour to performance, Sean helped shape the soul of London’s after-dark scene.”

On Monday night, The Holy Diver will leave an empty barstool with his name, playing Sean’s favorite tracks in tribute. And on July 27, Richmond Tavern will host a memorial concert, bringing together the community he helped build through rhythm, friendship, and loyalty.

    A Legacy Etched in Rhythm

Sean Murphy was more than a bartender and drummer. He was a symbol of what makes local scenes matter: the people who show up, lift others up, and pour their passion into every beat, every night, every moment. His absence is deeply felt—but so too is his legacy.

London has lost a legend. A connector of people. A champion of music. A man who never sought the spotlight, but who illuminated every room he walked into.

Rest in peace, Sean Murphy. Your rhythm lives on in the heartbeat of this city.

  • Tragedy in Fall River: Nine Dead, Dozens Injured in Devastating Assisted Living Fire

Tragedy in Fall River: Nine Dead, Dozens Injured in Devastating Assisted Living Fire

Fall River, Massachusetts – A catastrophic fire tore through the Gabriel House Assisted Living Center on Sunday night, claiming the lives of nine residents and leaving 30 others injured in one of the deadliest fires in recent Massachusetts history. The city is reeling as families, first responders, and officials confront the heartbreaking aftermath of the blaze that ravaged a home to some of the community’s most vulnerable.

“In all my years of being a Fire Chaplain, tonight was the worst night of experiencing such loss of life,” said Rev. Michael Racine, Fire Chaplain for the Fall River Fire Department. His solemn words reflect the heavy toll this tragedy has taken on first responders and the entire city.

    A Fire with Tragic Consequences

The blaze broke out Sunday night at Gabriel House, a nonprofit assisted living facility located in the heart of Fall River. With 100 single-bed units, the home housed around 70 residents at the time of the fire, according to the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal’s Office.

As flames engulfed the building, many residents—elderly and with limited mobility—were trapped inside. Rescue operations were significantly hindered by numerous window air conditioning units, which blocked access and slowed entry for firefighters trying desperately to save those inside.

Despite the heroic efforts of Fall River firefighters, police, EMS, and staff, nine residents tragically lost their lives. The names of seven of the victims have been released:

    •Eleanor Willet, 86

    •Rui Albernaz, 64

    •Ronald Codega, 61

    •Margaret Duddy, 69

    •Robert King, 78

    •Kim Mackin, 71

    •Richard Rochon, 78

Authorities have yet to publicly identify a 70-year-old woman and a 77-year-old man who also died in the fire, pending notification of their families.

    Voices from the Aftermath

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey visited survivors the following afternoon and heard harrowing first-hand accounts of the fire. Many residents were either in bed or preparing for sleep when the chaos began.

“They were in their bed or they had just had their medication and they’re about to go to bed,” Healey shared. “They hear some noise and lights and shouting… a lot of them are immobile. They’re in wheelchairs or they have walkers. They can’t easily move, and they were disoriented.”

Healey also praised the first responders whose actions saved countless lives:

“Were it not for the heroic, brave work of our fire, police, and EMS, we would have seen much greater loss of life,” she stated.

    Investigation Underway

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with fire officials, local authorities, and state agencies combing through the debris for answers. The last recorded state inspection of Gabriel House was conducted on October 15, 2024, with the certificate set to expire on October 15, 2025.

Built as a sanctuary for low-income and elderly residents, Gabriel House has served the Fall River community since 1999, operating as a nonprofit with a mission of compassion and dignity. Sunday’s fire marked an unfathomable moment in its 25-year history.

    🕯️ Community Mourning, Support Needed

As families grieve and survivors recover, Fall River is coming together to support those affected. Vigils are being planned, and city leaders are urging residents to contribute where possible—through donations, volunteerism, or simply offering comfort to those in mourning.

This tragedy has sparked renewed calls for examining the safety protocols in aging residential care facilities, especially for those with mobility limitations. Advocates are urging lawmakers and regulators to consider updated standards and additional protections to prevent such a catastrophe from ever happening again.

    🙏 In Remembrance

To the nine lives lost—mothers, fathers, grandparents, neighbors—your memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved you. Fall River grieves with your families. And to the survivors, your strength inspires us. The road ahead is long, but the community walks it with you.

May the victims rest in peace, and may healing come to Fall River, one day at a time.

If you have any information or wish to support the survivors and their families, please stay tuned to local relief efforts and updates through official city and nonprofit channels.

  • Darlington County Man Charged with Assault and Firearm Offenses Following Armed Altercation in Hartsville

Darlington County Man Charged with Assault and Firearm Offenses Following Armed Altercation in Hartsville

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC – A Hartsville neighborhood was left rattled after a violent altercation at a local gathering resulted in the arrest of Isaac Jackson, who now faces multiple serious charges, including Assault and Battery 1st Degree and Pointing and Presenting a Firearm.

The incident occurred on the evening of July 12, 2025, when Darlington County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on Persimmons Drive, following a 911 call reporting an assault involving a weapon.

According to the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, a preliminary investigation revealed that a dispute had broken out between Jackson and another individual during a social gathering at the home. The argument escalated quickly, turning violent when Jackson allegedly threatened to kill the victim.

Witnesses stated that Jackson then entered the residence, retrieved a handgun, and returned to confront the victim. He reportedly pointed the firearm directly at the individual, continuing to issue threats of bodily harm. Moments later, Jackson fired the weapon multiple times in the victim’s direction. Fortunately, the victim was not struck by the gunfire, but the violent outburst left those present in fear for their lives and prompted an immediate call to authorities.

Upon arrival, deputies secured the scene and detained Jackson without further incident. Following interviews and review of physical evidence, Isaac Jackson was formally arrested and charged with:

•Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature (1st Degree)

•Pointing and Presenting a Firearm at Another Person

Given the severity of the charges and the dangerous nature of the incident, a Darlington County Magistrate denied bond for Jackson. He is currently being held at the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center, where he awaits further judicial proceedings.

The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office has emphasized the seriousness of the incident and praised the swift response of the deputies who responded to the scene, ensuring that no further harm was done and that the suspect was taken into custody promptly.

“This could have ended in tragedy,” said a spokesperson for the department. “We are grateful no lives were lost, and we will continue to take all necessary steps to ensure justice is served and our community remains safe.”
