Remembering Zy’nnya Wright – A Shining Light Gone Too Soon

The Auburn community is grieving an immeasurable loss following the heartbreaking passing of Zy’nnya Wright, a beloved student whose presence brought light, kindness, and joy into every room she entered. From her family to her teachers, from classmates to school staff, the outpouring of love and remembrance reflects the powerful impact Zy’nnya had on so many lives — even in her young years.

Across Auburn City Schools, the messages have all echoed the same sentiment: Zy’nnya was special. She was the kind of student every teacher dreams of having — hardworking, respectful, motivated, and full of genuine warmth. She approached her schoolwork with determination and her relationships with compassion. Whether she was helping a classmate with an assignment, offering a kind word in the hallway, or volunteering to lend a hand, Zy’nnya consistently demonstrated maturity, grace, and heart well beyond her years.

Her bright smile, her gentle nature, and her positive spirit touched countless lives. Teachers remember her eagerness to learn, her ability to lift up others, and the way she carried herself with quiet strength. Friends remember her as the one who could always make them laugh or feel safe. She was a peacemaker, a listener, a leader in her own unique way — not loud or flashy, but deeply rooted in kindness and empathy.

To her family, Zy’nnya was everything. A cherished daughter, a loving sister, a source of pride, laughter, and love. Her family describes her as not only beautiful on the outside but even more beautiful within — a young girl who was deeply loved and gave love in return, freely and often.

This is a devastating loss — not only for Zy’nnya’s loved ones, but for the entire Auburn City Schools community, who are struggling to process the sudden absence of someone so vibrant and full of promise. The silence she leaves behind in classrooms, on playgrounds, and in the hearts of those who knew her is profound.

Counselors, teachers, and staff are working closely with students and families to support them through this difficult time. Grief touches each of us differently, but what remains constant is the love that surrounds Zy’nnya’s memory. It lives on in every story shared, every tear shed, and every candle lit in her honor.

In the coming days, tributes will continue to pour in — and they will all say what we already know:
Zy’nnya Wright was a beautiful soul. She made the world better simply by being in it.

As we hold her family, friends, teachers, and classmates in our hearts, let us also hold onto the lessons she taught us in her short time: to be kind, to be joyful, to help others, and to carry ourselves with the same quiet grace that Zy’nnya so naturally embodied.

Rest in peace, sweet Zy’nnya. You were loved deeply. You will be remembered always. 🤍

  • In Loving Memory of Cara Atkins – A Beautiful Soul Taken Too Soon

In Loving Memory of Cara Atkins – A Beautiful Soul Taken Too Soon

On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, our family was struck by an unimaginable tragedy that has left our hearts shattered and our lives forever changed. Our beautiful, vibrant, and deeply loved Cara Atkins, just 23 years old, was tragically taken from us in a devastating accident on I-75 Southbound, just before the Highway 92 exit in Georgia.

The loss is incomprehensible. We are now facing the impossible reality of planning a funeral we never thought we’d have to prepare — for a young woman whose life had only just begun, for someone who was the heart of our family, the soul of our laughter, and the reason behind so many joyful memories.

Cara wasn’t just my niece — she was my person, my constant source of joy, comfort, and pride. But as close as we were, it was her parents who were truly her best friends. Their bond was something rare and beautiful — forged through shared adventures, belly laughs, tearful talks, and countless memories from family road trips and quiet nights in. The love between them was limitless and pure.

Cara was a light in every life she touched. She radiated kindness and warmth, with a smile that could brighten even the darkest day. She had a heart so gentle and giving that she wouldn’t even harm a bug — a true reflection of her compassion, empathy, and deep respect for all living things. Whether she was offering a listening ear or a warm embrace, Cara made you feel seen, heard, and loved in a way that was uniquely hers.

She was a fierce dreamer, an athlete, and a dedicated student who gave her all in everything she pursued. Driven and resilient, she had big dreams for her future and the determination to make them real. She inspired those around her not just by what she accomplished, but by how she did it — with humility, grace, and an unwavering belief in the goodness of people.

Cara was also full of life and personality. She was a loyal supporter of her cousin Sean, never missing the chance to cheer him on at USF football games, and her loyalty extended to her love for UGA and FSU. She was a true Georgia girl with a competitive spirit and a soft heart.

Her love for animals knew no bounds. She adored her cuddly (and occasionally sassy) cat, her playful dogs, and any creature that crossed her path. Her favorite moments often included hiking scenic trails, attending concerts with friends, going on thrifting adventures, playing video games, or simply soaking in the peace of being at home with her pets.

Cara had a remarkable gift — the ability to make everyone feel special. Whether you knew her for years or had just met her, you walked away with the sense that you mattered. Her energy was magnetic, her laugh unforgettable, and her presence irreplaceable.

In the midst of this heartbreaking loss, we are now navigating the overwhelming emotional and financial burden that comes with saying goodbye far too soon. We are asking for help — any contribution, no matter how small, will go toward funeral expenses, memorial arrangements, and helping her parents begin the difficult journey of healing.

If you are unable to give, we simply ask that you share this message or keep our family in your prayers. Your support — in any form — means the world.

Cara Atkins may no longer walk beside us, but her spirit lives on in every person she loved, every life she touched, and every heart she lifted. We will carry her with us always — in our memories, in our tears, and in the love she left behind.

Rest easy, sweet Cara. We will never stop loving you.
Forever in our hearts, and always in our stories.

In Loving Memory of a Beloved Nurse, Husband, and Father – Brian Sepe

On July 11, 2025, our hearts were shattered by the devastating loss of Brian Sepe, a remarkable man who wore many hats: a dedicated emergency department nurse, a loving husband, a proud father, and a cherished friend. At just 34 years old, Brian’s life was tragically cut short in a sudden and heartbreaking car accident, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and service that touched countless lives.

Brian served his community with unwavering commitment as an emergency nurse at Adventist Health-Selma, where his calm demeanor and quick thinking made him a pillar in the hospital’s emergency department. Colleagues remember him as someone who thrived in chaos, not for the thrill, but because he had a genuine gift for bringing peace to others in their most terrifying moments. Patients, coworkers, and families alike found solace in Brian’s reassuring presence, his quiet confidence, and his deep empathy.

But beyond the scrubs and hospital walls, Brian was so much more.

He was the rock of his family, a husband whose love for his wife was evident in everything he did, and a father who beamed with pride over his children. Whether coaching from the sidelines, helping with homework, or simply sitting at the dinner table listening to their stories, Brian was present. Wholeheartedly. His family was the center of his universe, and every step he took was guided by the love he had for them.

Those fortunate enough to know Brian personally will remember his brilliant and curious mind, his carefree presence, and that incredibly infectious laugh that could instantly lift the mood in any room. He was a friend who made time, a colleague who showed up, and a soul who truly listened.

Now, in the wake of this heartbreaking tragedy, Brian’s family is facing not only a profound emotional loss but also the overwhelming financial burden that follows such an unexpected event. His wife and children must now navigate life without their anchor — without the man who meant everything to them.

We are coming together as a community to ask for your help. A fundraising effort has been launched to support Brian’s grieving family in the days, weeks, and months ahead. Your contribution will go directly toward:

    • Funeral and memorial expenses
    • Household bills and everyday essentials
    • Long-term care and stability for his children

Every dollar helps. No donation is too small. Even a share or a kind word goes a long way in reminding Brian’s family that they are not alone during this unthinkable time.

Brian Sepe gave so much in his short life — to his patients, his coworkers, his family, and to everyone who crossed his path. Now, we have the chance to give something back. To honor his memory not just in words, but in action. To show his family the love he so freely gave to others.

Thank you for standing with us in remembrance of Brian Sepe — a man whose legacy of love, service, and family will never be forgotten.

Rest in peace, Brian. Your light continues to shine in all the lives you touched.
