ROSEBURG, Ore. โ€” The Douglas County Sheriffโ€™s Office has made two arrests following an extensive investigation into illegal visual content involving minors and other criminal activity. The investigation, which began in late June 2025, resulted in the arrest of Daniel Roy Phelps, 40, and his long-term partner, Terah Danyle Crawford, 39, both residents of Roseburg, Oregon.

  • Ex-LAPD Officer Edgar Verduzco Pleads Guilty in Fatal DUI Crash That Killed Family of Three; Sentenced to 15 Years to Life

Ex-LAPD Officer Edgar Verduzco Pleads Guilty in Fatal DUI Crash That Killed Family of Three; Sentenced to 15 Years to Life

A former Los Angeles police officer will now spend at least the next 15 years behind bars after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a devastating DUI crash that claimed the lives of an innocent family of three. Edgar Verduzco, now 34, entered his guilty plea on April 11, 2025, and was formally sentenced to 15 years to life in prison during a hearing on Friday in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Verduzcoโ€™s charges include three counts of second-degree murder, as well as one count of DUI causing injury and one count of driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or more causing injuryโ€”a tragic contradiction to his oath as a law enforcement officer. The sentencing closes a harrowing chapter that began on September 26, 2017, when Verduzco, while off duty, was driving under the influence and traveling at high speeds on the 605 Freeway in Santa Fe Springs.

His car slammed into the vehicle carrying the Davila family, causing it to erupt in flames. 19-year-old Oscar Davila, a promising student at UC Riverside, was killed instantly along with his parents, 60-year-old Mario Davila and 52-year-old Maribel Davila. Another vehicle was also struck in the crash, resulting in injuries to its occupants, though they survived.

Since his arrest in 2018, Verduzco had been in custody awaiting trial. At the sentencing hearing before Judge Shelly Torrealba, Verduzco addressed the court and the victimsโ€™ family members with visible emotion. โ€œThere are no words that can truly make this right,โ€ he said, fighting back tears. โ€œI caused a terrible accident that took the lives of an innocent family, and I promise I will always keep their memory alive.โ€

Judge Torrealba acknowledged Verduzcoโ€™s remorse, noting that while the sentence cannot undo the suffering caused, she believed he genuinely wished he could trade places with those whose lives he ended. โ€œItโ€™s clear this has changed you,โ€ she said. โ€œAnd I hope that someday, after paying your debt, you will become a better man who contributes to society.โ€

A Tragedy Made Worse by Betrayed Trust

For the Davila familyโ€™s loved ones and the broader community, the pain of the loss was intensified by the fact that the man responsible had once worn a badge. Verduzco was sworn to protect and serve, trained to prevent the very behavior he committed. The betrayal of that trust left deep wounds.

โ€œHe knew better,โ€ said one family friend. โ€œHe was trained to spot impaired drivers, not become one. The fact that he put others in danger so carelessly is unforgivable.โ€

According to investigators, Verduzco had been drinking at a bar earlier in the evening before getting behind the wheel of his vehicle. He was reportedly speeding when the crash occurred, a decision that led to irreversible devastation. The Davila familyโ€™s car was engulfed in flames shortly after the impact, leaving no chance for survival.

    Remembering the Davilas

The victims in this case were more than just statistics. Oscar Davila was a bright, ambitious young man studying at the University of California, Riverside. He had aspirations of making a difference in his community and building a future full of promise. His parents, Mario and Maribel, were remembered as hardworking, kind-hearted, and devoted to their family. They were known throughout their neighborhood as dependable friends and loving parents who supported their sonโ€™s dreams.

The impact of their deaths was deeply felt not only by their extended family and neighbors, but also by Oscarโ€™s university peers and professors. Vigils were held in their memory, and community members called for stricter enforcement of DUI laws and a renewed commitment to accountabilityโ€”even among those in positions of authority.

    Justice Served, But Pain Endures

While Verduzcoโ€™s guilty plea and sentencing bring a measure of justice, it cannot erase the grief or fill the void left by the Davilasโ€™ deaths. The emotional scars remain for the relatives who now face birthdays, holidays, and everyday life without three beloved members of their family.

Still, many find some comfort in knowing that Verduzco accepted responsibility for his actions and that he will serve significant time behind bars for the lives he took. The sentencing also serves as a stark reminder that no one is above the lawโ€”not even those tasked with enforcing it.

As Edgar Verduzco begins his prison sentence, the community continues to honor the memory of Mario, Maribel, and Oscar Davilaโ€”three lives extinguished far too soon by a reckless and preventable act. Their legacy lives on in the fight against drunk driving and the enduring love of those who refuse to let them be forgotten.

  • Honoring a Hero: Retired R Mike Warner Passes Away, Leaving Behind a Legacy of Service and Strength

Honoring a Hero: Retired R Mike Warner Passes Away, Leaving Behind a Legacy of Service and Strength

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Retired R Mike Warner , a true legend in the fire service, a proud military veteran, and an extraordinary man whose legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the honor to serve beside him.

Chief Warner was the embodiment of duty, integrity, and courage. His journey of service began in the military, where he stood with unwavering commitment and pride in defense of our nation. When his time in uniform came to an end, his dedication to service did not. Instead, he brought that same sense of honor, discipline, and leadership into a new callingโ€”the fire serviceโ€”where he would leave an indelible mark on generations to come.

For decades, Chief Warner was the backbone of the department. He wasnโ€™t just a leaderโ€”he was the leader. Through every call, every training drill, every crisis and calm, he led with wisdom, strength, and compassion. His deep understanding of the job, his commanding presence, and his steady hand made him a guiding light in times of uncertainty. To many, he wasnโ€™t just โ€œChief Warnerโ€โ€”he was a mentor, a teacher, and a father figure in turnout gear.

Chief Warner shaped the culture of the firehouse not just through policies and procedures, but through the values he lived by: honor, humility, courage, and sacrifice. His words carried weight, but his actions spoke louderโ€”he never asked for respect, he earned it. And he gave it, freely and sincerely, to those willing to learn and grow under his guidance.

Many of us owe our careersโ€”and the people weโ€™ve becomeโ€”to the lessons Chief Warner taught us. He showed us what it means to lead with conviction, to protect with passion, and to serve with heart. His mentorship extended beyond the firehouse walls. He offered life advice, tough love, and a listening ear. He pushed us to be not just better firefighters, but better human beings.

His retirement didnโ€™t end his influence. His name is still spoken with reverence in the locker rooms, in the training fields, and at the dinner table. The stories we tell of himโ€”some heroic, some humorousโ€”remind us of his depth of character and unwavering presence.

As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life that stood as a pillar of service and strength. We will lower our heads in sorrow, but we will raise our torches in tribute, continuing the work and the mission he loved so deeply.

Rest easy, Chief Warner. Your watch has ended, but your legacy carries on in every firefighter who had the privilege to know you, learn from you, and walk the path you paved. Your spirit will forever echo through the firehouse halls, in the clang of the bell, and in the resolve of every firefighter who stands ready to serve.

    We will never forget.

Tyrone, Carrollton GA Shooting โ€“ Man Shot in the Chest on Magnolia Street Leaves Community in Shock

ย Tyrone, Carrollton GA Shooting โ€“ Man Shot in the Chest on Magnolia Street Leaves Community in Shock

A quiet Carrollton, Georgia, neighborhood was shattered by gun violence earlier today after a man was shot in the chest during a disturbing daytime incident on Magnolia Street. The shooting has left the victim with serious injuries and has prompted an urgent investigation by local authorities, as residents grapple with fear and uncertainty in the wake of the violence.

According to the Carrollton Police Department, the incident occurred outside a residence along Magnolia Street in the early part of the day. Multiple calls to 911 were received shortly after the sound of a single gunshot rang out through the otherwise peaceful area. When emergency responders arrived on the scene, they found a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his upper torso.

    Immediate Response and Ongoing Investigation

Emergency medical personnel acted swiftly, providing critical care on-site before transporting the victim to a nearby hospital. While officials have not disclosed the victimโ€™s identity or provided a formal update on his condition, sources close to the situation suggest his injuries are severe and potentially life-threatening.

Carrollton police officers responded immediately, cordoning off the area with yellow crime scene tape and launching an intensive investigation. The shooting took place just outside a home near the street, and investigators were seen collecting evidence, photographing the scene, and canvassing nearby residences for surveillance footage or witnesses who may have seen the shooting unfold.

Despite their swift response, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been publicly identified. The shooterโ€”or shootersโ€”remain at large. Authorities have not released a possible motive for the shooting, and no descriptions of potential suspects or vehicles have been made available to the public at this time.

    A Neighborhood in Fear

The sudden eruption of violence on Magnolia Street has deeply unsettled the community. Residents described the area as typically calm and family-friendly, with little history of violent incidents. Many were stunned by the scene that unfolded right outside their homes.

โ€œWe heard what sounded like a single loud pop, and then saw flashing lights and sirens within minutes,โ€ one neighbor shared. โ€œItโ€™s terrifying to know someone was shot just feet away from where our children play.โ€

Another resident added, โ€œWe came outside and saw police everywhere. It didnโ€™t feel real. This just doesnโ€™t happen on our street.โ€

    Public Urged to Come Forward

As the investigation continues, the Carrollton Police Department is urgently asking for the publicโ€™s assistance. Authorities are requesting that anyone who may have witnessed the shooting, saw anything suspicious around the time of the incident, or who might have security footage from nearby homes or businesses, come forward.

Tips can be submitted anonymously, and investigators stress that even the smallest detail could help identify a suspect or provide a breakthrough in the case.

    What Comes Next

Police have yet to determine whether this shooting was a targeted attack or a random act of violence, but both possibilities remain under active consideration. Detectives are working diligently to process evidence, conduct interviews, and monitor surveillance footage in the hope of bringing those responsible to justice.

The city of Carrollton has also reminded residents to remain vigilant, to report any suspicious activity, and to be aware of their surroundings, especially as details of the incident remain limited.

As neighbors come to terms with what happened, many are expressing both concern and solidarity. Community members have already begun discussing increased neighborhood watch efforts and calling for more law enforcement presence in the area to restore a sense of safety.

    Contact Information

  • Tragic Loss in Cleveland, TX: 23-Year-Old Joshua Dixon Killed in Motorcycle Crash Caused by Distracted Driver

Tragic Loss in Cleveland, TX: 23-Year-Old Joshua Dixon Killed in Motorcycle Crash Caused by Distracted Driver

In a devastating turn of events that has left an entire community in mourning, 23-year-old Joshua Dixon lost his life this morning in a tragic motorcycle accident in Cleveland, Texas. Joshua, full of life and promise, had his future stolen in the blink of an eyeโ€”because of a moment of carelessness that should never have happened.

Joshua was simply riding his motorcycle, trailing behind a vehicle on what should have been a routine trip. But in an instant, everything changed. The driver of the car, allegedly distracted by texting, suddenly attempted an illegal U-turnโ€”without warning, without checking for traffic, and without any regard for the life traveling behind them.

The car turned directly into Joshuaโ€™s path, leaving him no time to react. The collision was violent. Brutal. Final. First responders rushed to the scene, but it was too late. Joshua didnโ€™t make it.

    He was only 23.

And what makes this tragedy even more painfulโ€”nearly unbearableโ€”is that Joshua had just embarked on a beautiful new chapter in life. On July 7th, less than two weeks ago, he had married the love of his life. He and his wife were newlywedsโ€”still glowing from their wedding day, still dreaming of their future, still calling each other โ€œhusbandโ€ and โ€œwifeโ€ for the very first time.

They were supposed to spend this summer building memories. Exploring life as partners. Planning a future full of promise, children, travel, and laughter.

Instead, Joshuaโ€™s bride is now facing the unimaginable: choosing a casket, writing an obituary, and trying to figure out how to survive without the man she had just vowed to love forever.

This isnโ€™t just a tragic accident. Itโ€™s a sobering reminder of what is lost in the seconds it takes to look down at a phone. One careless momentโ€”one message that could have waitedโ€”has ended a life, destroyed a marriage before it could truly begin, and shattered the hearts of everyone who loved Joshua.

Friends and family describe him as vibrant, kind-hearted, adventurous, and deeply devoted to his new wife. He had a contagious smile, an easy laugh, and a way of making everyone feel seen. He was a son, a friend, a husband. And now, he is a heartbreaking reminder of the cost of distracted driving.

Joshuaโ€™s loved ones are now grieving what couldโ€™ve been: anniversaries never celebrated, children never born, holidays never shared. All because someone chose to text instead of drive.

Pleaseโ€”if youโ€™re reading this, let this be your wake-up call. Put the phone down. Focus on the road. Lives depend on it.

And tonight, hug your loved ones a little tighter. Say the words youโ€™ve been meaning to say. And as you do, lift up Joshuaโ€™s wife and his family in your prayers. They need strength, comfort, and the love of a community to carry them through the darkest days of their lives.

Rest in peace, Joshua Dixon. You were loved. You will be missed.

ARREST IN JASPER COUNTY: MAN CHARGED WITH SEXUAL EXPLOITATION OF A MINOR & POSSESSION OF FRAUDULENT DOCUMENTS

Ridgeland, South Carolina โ€” A disturbing case is unfolding in Jasper County, where a man is now facing a range of serious criminal charges, including five counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, following a coordinated investigation between the Jasper County Sheriffโ€™s Office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

On a quiet stretch of Sweet William Road in Ridgeland, law enforcement executed a search warrant and five arrest warrants at a private residence linked to 48-year-old Luis Manuel Chavez Severiano. What they discovered has led to significant concern within the community.

    SERIOUS CHARGES AND SHOCKING DISCOVERIES

Luis Manuel Chavez Severiano is accused of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor (5 counts), an extremely serious offense that indicates the possession, production, or distribution of exploitative material involving children. The nature of these allegations points to potential predatory behavior and exploitation that may extend beyond what has currently been uncovered.

But the investigation didnโ€™t end there.

During the execution of the search warrant, investigators reportedly discovered a trove of illegal and fraudulent materials, including:

    • Fake Permanent Resident (Green) Cards
    • Counterfeit Social Security Cards
    • Fraudulent Passports
    • Illegal narcotics

This collection of fake documents suggests an elaborate operation involving identity fraud and potentially immigration-related crimes. Authorities are now working to determine the scope of Severianoโ€™s activities, including whether additional individuals may have been victimized or if others were involved in producing or using the fraudulent identification documents.

    COMMUNITY ON EDGE

Residents of Sweet William Road and the broader Ridgeland area are understandably shaken by the news. What appeared to be an ordinary home in a quiet neighborhood has now become the center of a criminal investigation involving child exploitation, document fraud, and drug offenses.

Sheriffโ€™s deputies and SLED agents worked in tandem to secure the area during the search, and law enforcement has since reassured the public that Severiano is in custody and poses no ongoing threat to the community at this time.

    WHERE HE IS NOW

Severiano was booked into the Jasper County Detention Center late Thursday, where he is currently being held pending additional hearings. In addition to the five counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, Severiano will also face new charges related to drug possession and fraudulent government documents discovered inside his residence.

Federal authorities may also become involved, given the potential for violations involving immigration fraud, identity theft, and the production of counterfeit federal documents.

    THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

While Severiano is now behind bars, authorities are continuing to examine:

    • The origin of the fake identification documents
    • Digital devices seized during the search for potential evidence of additional exploitation or distribution
    • Any possible victims who have not yet come forward
    • Whether others were involved in producing or purchasing the illegal documents

Investigators are urging anyone with additional information about Luis Manuel Chavez Severiano or this case to contact the Jasper County Sheriffโ€™s Office or SLED directly. Tips can be submitted anonymously.

    SEEKING JUSTICE

This case is a stark reminder of the hidden dangers that can exist within our own communities. It underscores the importance of vigilance, reporting suspicious activity, and supporting survivors of exploitation.

The Jasper County Sheriffโ€™s Office and SLED have emphasized their commitment to pursuing justice for victims and holding perpetrators fully accountable under the law.
