Ayrshire, Scotland – July 16, 2025 – A community has been left devastated following the tragic death of 14-year-old Aiden McLuckie, who was killed in a fatal crash on Wednesday evening near Hurlford. The heartbreaking incident occurred around 5:10 p.m. on the A76, at the bridge over Cessnock Water, just outside the town.

Emergency services rushed to the scene after reports of a serious road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. Despite their immediate efforts, Aiden was pronounced dead at the scene. He had been walking in the area when he was struck by a Vauxhall Corsa.

Aiden’s grieving mother, Olivia McLuckie, confirmed the devastating news on social media late Wednesday night, writing:

“I can’t believe I’m actually having to write this, but we just wanted to let people know that our boy Aiden sadly passed away last night due to a tragic accident. He will be sorely missed. Our family is broken right now and would like some time to process this.”

Her words reflect the raw pain felt not just by her family but by everyone who knew and loved Aiden — a bright, kind-hearted boy with his whole future ahead of him. Friends, schoolmates, teachers, and neighbors have since expressed their shock and sorrow, with floral tributes and messages of love beginning to appear near the site of the crash.

The male driver of the Vauxhall Corsa involved in the collision, along with two passengers, were assessed by paramedics at the scene. Fortunately, none required hospital treatment. The A76 was closed for several hours while collision investigators from Police Scotland conducted a thorough examination of the scene.

Road Policing Officers in Ayrshire are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.

Sergeant Brian Simpson of the Road Policing Unit released the following statement:

“Our thoughts remain with Aiden’s family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. We are doing everything we can to support them as we carry out our investigation. We urge anyone who saw what happened or who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident to please come forward and speak to us.”
