  • Shaylynne Watson and Beverly Hansel Arrested After 11-Month-Old Baby Survives Fentanyl Exposure

Shaylynne Watson and Beverly Hansel Arrested After 11-Month-Old Baby Survives Fentanyl Exposure

Santa Rosa, CA – Authorities in Santa Rosa have arrested 35-year-old Shaylynne Watson and 54-year-old Beverly Hansel in connection with a deeply troubling case involving the fentanyl exposure of an 11-month-old baby girl. The child, who miraculously survived the incident, was exposed to the deadly opioid while under Watson’s supervision at Hansel’s apartment.

The Santa Rosa Police Department responded to a hospital around 3:40 a.m. on July 14, 2025, after being alerted to a possible drug exposure involving the infant. Investigators later learned that the child had likely been exposed to fentanyl hours earlier—around 7:00 p.m. the night before—while at Hansel’s residence.

According to police, Hansel administered Narcan, the life-saving overdose reversal medication, after the baby began showing signs of distress. However, in a critical lapse of responsibility, neither Hansel nor Watson called 911, and the baby was not transported to the hospital until well after midnight—nearly five hours after the initial exposure.

Following an investigation by Santa Rosa detectives, both women were arrested and face the following charges:

    • Shaylynne Watson: Felony Child Endangerment
    • Beverly Hansel: Felony Child Endangerment and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Police say drug paraphernalia was found at Hansel’s residence, suggesting that illegal narcotics were present in close proximity to the child. The precise way in which the infant was exposed remains under investigation, though law enforcement officials describe the circumstances as both dangerous and preventable.

The baby girl, whose name has not been released, is now recovering. Her current medical condition has not been publicly disclosed. Child Protective Services is actively involved and will determine the appropriate steps to ensure the child’s long-term safety.

The arrests of Watson and Hansel have triggered widespread concern across the Santa Rosa community and raised new alarms about the growing threat fentanyl poses to even the youngest and most vulnerable.

“This child was lucky to survive,” said one police spokesperson. “The failure to seek emergency help in a timely manner could have cost her life. It’s an absolute tragedy that could have been prevented.”

Authorities are urging the public to remain alert and to report suspected child neglect or drug activity, especially in homes where children are present. Quick action can save lives.

This case remains an active and ongoing investigation, and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Santa Rosa Police Department.

  • Livermore, CA – 25-Year-Old Jesus Andrade Arrested in Connection with July 5 Drive-By Shooting on Chestnut Street

Livermore, CA – 25-Year-Old Jesus Andrade Arrested in Connection with July 5 Drive-By Shooting on Chestnut Street

Livermore Police Department (LPD) officials have announced the arrest of 25-year-old Jesus Andrade in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred earlier this month in the city’s Chestnut Street area. The arrest follows an intensive investigation led by detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau, who worked swiftly to identify and apprehend the suspect responsible for the violent incident.

According to authorities, the shooting took place around 2:00 a.m. on July 5, in the 300 block of Chestnut Street, a residential area that was suddenly jolted by gunfire in the early morning hours. The victim, a 27-year-old male, was struck by a bullet and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Fortunately, police say the victim has since been released and is recovering from his injuries.

In the days that followed the shooting, detectives combed through leads, gathered witness statements, and analyzed surveillance footage from the neighborhood. Their efforts led to the identification of a suspect vehicle believed to be involved in the crime. From there, investigators were able to narrow down the suspect to Andrade, whose name had not previously been made public.

Police say Jesus Andrade was taken into custody without incident as he was leaving his residence. Evidence recovered during the investigation and arrest linked him directly to the shooting. Authorities have since booked Andrade into Santa Rita Jail on multiple felony charges, including:

    • Shooting from a vehicle
    • Assault with a firearm

While the investigation remains ongoing, Livermore Police believe the shooting was gang-related, though officials have not released further details regarding potential gang affiliations or motive. The department is continuing its efforts to determine whether additional suspects were involved or if further charges will be filed.

In a statement, Livermore Police praised the dedication of their detectives and emphasized the importance of community cooperation in solving violent crimes.

“The swift arrest of Jesus Andrade demonstrates the commitment of our Criminal Investigations Bureau to keeping our neighborhoods safe. We will continue to work closely with community members and partner agencies to prevent and respond to gang-related violence,” said an LPD spokesperson.

The department also urged anyone with more information related to the incident to come forward. Even small details can help investigators in their efforts to ensure all those involved are held accountable.

The July 5 shooting had initially sparked concern among residents in the Chestnut Street area, with many expressing fear about rising violence. The arrest has brought some relief, but community members are continuing to call for greater focus on gang prevention, neighborhood safety, and support services for at-risk youth.

As the legal process unfolds, Andrade remains in custody, and formal arraignment details are expected to be announced in the coming days.

This remains an active and developing investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Livermore Police Department or Crime Stoppers to report anonymously.

  • Cam Findlay Obituary-Death News; David Findlay Brother Cam Findlay Passed Away Tragically

Cam Findlay Obituary-Death News; David Findlay Brother Cam Findlay Passed Away Tragically

Cam Findlay, a deeply loved brother, friend, and respected member of the Chicago community, has passed away tragically following years of health challenges stemming from a long battle with the aftereffects of cancer treatment he received as a young man.
He died on the morning of July 11, 2025, at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, after making the courageous decision to end his care. He was surrounded by love and peace in his final moments.

Born and raised in Elkhart, Indiana, Cam faced adversity early in life. In 1978, he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. At a time when cancer treatment was still evolving, Cam underwent aggressive radiation therapy that successfully saved his life but left him with significant long-term health complications.

Despite these ongoing challenges, he refused to let illness define him. Cam approached life with strength, optimism, and a generosity of spirit that inspired all who knew him.

Over the decades, Cam endured the physical consequences of his earlier treatments, including extensive radiation scarring that eventually led to severe heart damage. In recent months, his condition worsened, and a heart transplant was considered.

However, due to his complex health situation, the transplant was not a viable option. Cam spent the last two weeks of his life at Northwestern Hospital, where he was cared for with compassion and dignity.

Early on the morning of July 11, Cam made the deeply personal decision to discontinue further medical intervention. He passed away peacefully about an hour later.

His brother, David Findlay, shared the heartbreaking news with friends and loved ones, writing, “Cam will definitely be missed. My brother Cam passed away this morning. You might recall that he had Non Hodgkins Lymphoma in 1978 and his treatment included heavy doses of radiation. The radiation’s impact has created many challenges over the years, and most recently heart damage from extensive scarring put him on the path to a heart transplant. But the transplant option was not viable given his condition. He’s been in Northwestern Hospital for two weeks and made the decision early this morning to end his care. He died an hour later. He had a terrific life and was a great guy.”

Those who knew Cam remember him as someone who never complained, even in the face of incredible difficulty. He lived with grace, humor, and kindness, remaining actively engaged in the lives of his friends and family.

He had a sharp mind, a generous heart, and a quiet resilience that earned him deep respect from everyone fortunate enough to know him. Cam built his life in Chicago, where he became a familiar and friendly face to many.

Though he carried the weight of his health issues, he lived fully — valuing deep conversations, meaningful relationships, and small joys. He made an impression on people with his authenticity and warmth, and he left a mark far beyond what any illness could ever erase.

Cam Findlay’s passing is not just the loss of a life, but the loss of a spirit who showed others how to live with courage, humility, and love. His story is one of endurance, grace, and quiet heroism. He will be remembered not for the battles he fought, but for the life he lived and the people he touched along the way.

He is survived by his brother, David, and many friends and loved ones who will carry his memory forward. Details regarding memorial services will be shared by the family at a later date.

  • Simon Mariani Obituary – Remembering a Life Cut Tragically Short by Lightning Strike at Ballyowen Golf Course

Simon Mariani Obituary – Remembering a Life Cut Tragically Short by Lightning Strike at Ballyowen Golf Course

It is with broken hearts and unspeakable sorrow that the family, friends, and community of Simon Mariani, 28, of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, announce his untimely and tragic passing following a lightning strike during a golf tournament at Ballyowen Golf Course in Hamburg, New Jersey, on Saturday.

What began as a day filled with camaraderie, competition, and love for the game turned into an unthinkable tragedy during the annual Iron Man golf tournament, a grueling and well-known endurance event. As a sudden summer storm swept across the course, there was little time for participants to react. Witnesses reported that no warning sirens or weather alerts were sounded before a bolt of lightning struck the area near the 15th hole—where Simon was actively playing.

In the moments that followed, fellow golfers rushed to Simon’s aid, immediately administering CPR while awaiting emergency responders. He was swiftly airlifted via medevac to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite the tireless efforts of first responders and medical professionals, Simon tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Simon’s shocking and untimely death has left the Franklin Lakes community reeling. His family, friends, coworkers, and all who knew him are struggling to comprehend the loss of someone so full of life, promise, and compassion.

Born and raised in Franklin Lakes, Simon was known for his magnetic smile, quick wit, and selfless heart. He was the cherished son of Michael and Laura Mariani, and a devoted older brother to Emma and Daniel, whom he mentored with pride and love. Simon’s close-knit family was at the center of his world, and the bonds he shared with them were as unwavering as they were profound.

A graduate of Ramapo High School and later Montclair State University, Simon had carved out a successful career in marketing and communications. Known among colleagues for his creativity, diligence, and team spirit, he was described as someone who brought out the best in everyone around him. Whether strategizing on a campaign or mentoring a new team member, Simon approached his work with humility, integrity, and heart.

Outside the office, Simon’s passions were as vibrant as his personality. He was an avid golfer, respected in regional tournaments and known for his love of the game’s mental and physical challenge. Friends recall him as the one always organizing tee times, sharing golf tips, and turning every outing into a celebration of sport and friendship. He also loved travel, fitness, and the outdoors—thriving in the freedom and peace that came with being in nature.

Simon’s parents, Michael and Laura, issued a heartfelt statement in the aftermath of the tragedy:

“Simon was the light of our lives, and we are devastated by his sudden loss. We find some comfort in knowing he spent his final hours doing something he loved, surrounded by friends and the beauty of nature. We thank everyone who tried to save our son and ask for continued prayers during this heartbreaking time.”

In addition to grieving his personal loss, the community is grappling with concerns about weather safety protocols at outdoor recreational venues. Local officials have called for a review of alert systems, and Ballyowen Golf Course has confirmed that it is cooperating fully with authorities and conducting an internal investigation.

The National Weather Service has since emphasized the importance of seeking shelter at the first sign of thunder or lightning, even if no alerts are active—an urgent reminder of nature’s unpredictability.

To honor Simon’s life and spirit, his friends and community are planning several tributes in the days ahead. A candlelight vigil will be held in Franklin Lakes later this week to celebrate his life and mourn his loss. Plans are also underway for a memorial golf tournament in his name, with proceeds going toward youth golf development programs and initiatives to improve weather awareness and safety on courses across the region.

Simon Mariani is survived by his loving parents, Michael and Laura, his siblings Emma and Daniel, his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends whose lives he touched with his warmth, humor, and grace.

Though his time was far too brief, Simon lived with purpose and heart. He laughed often, gave generously, loved deeply, and inspired others to do the same. His absence is a void that cannot be filled—but his legacy will continue to live on in the stories we share, the kindness we extend, and the lives he helped shape.

Funeral arrangements will be shared with the public once finalized. In the meantime, the Mariani family has requested privacy as they grieve, and they encourage all who knew Simon to carry forward his spirit by embracing life, cherishing loved ones, and offering help to others—just as Simon always did.

Rest in peace, Simon. May your light forever guide us.

  • Steven Alexander Corfe Obituary – In Loving Memory of a Gentle Soul, Brilliant Mind, and Devoted Heart

Steven Alexander Corfe Obituary – In Loving Memory of a Gentle Soul, Brilliant Mind, and Devoted Heart

It is with immense sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Steven Alexander Corfe, who died peacefully at Kensington Hospice in Toronto, surrounded by his beloved wife Johanna and a close circle of family and friends who held him in the highest regard. Though his life ended too soon, Steve leaves behind a legacy of kindness, intellectual passion, and unwavering devotion that will forever echo in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Steve was the dearly loved husband and life partner of Johanna O’Brien, with whom he shared a bond rooted in respect, joy, and enduring love. Together, they raised their son, Owen Jagger Corfe, who was not only the light of Steve’s life but also his greatest source of pride and purpose. Every moment Steve spent with Owen—from coaching and camping to sharing sports trivia and life lessons—was filled with tenderness, laughter, and an unmistakable sense of wonder.

Born in Paisley, Scotland, in 1971, Steve immigrated to Canada in 1978 with his family, eventually settling in Barrie and later in Cornwall. His early life was shaped by curiosity, resilience, and a deep appreciation for family. He was the devoted son of Maria Corfe and Richard Corfe (Kelly), and the loving brother to Kareen (Bryan), with whom he shared a lifetime of memories. He also held a special place in the lives of his nieces and nephews—Maya, Emalee, Sarah, Colton, Ronan, and Sydney—with whom he built relationships full of playfulness and guidance.

Steve’s extended family brought him joy and comfort, especially the O’Brien family—James and Susan, Matthew and Kimberley, Andrew and Vanessa—who welcomed him warmly and supported him unfailingly. Family gatherings, shared meals, and summer days at the cottage were sacred to Steve. They weren’t just moments of togetherness—they were affirmations of everything he valued most: connection, laughter, and love.

Academically, Steve was a man of brilliance and humility. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from Brock University, he pursued and completed a Ph.D. in Immunology at the University of Toronto. Driven by a passion for science and human wellness, Steve dedicated his professional life to cancer research—a field where he not only excelled but also made meaningful contributions.

Steve’s career flourished at the University Health Network (UHN), one of Canada’s most prestigious healthcare institutions. As Director of the Research Facilities Department, Steve wasn’t just a respected leader—he was a mentor, a problem solver, and an empathetic colleague. His commitment to advancing medical research was matched by his deep care for the people around him. He approached every challenge with calm confidence and worked tirelessly to create an environment where others could thrive.

But Steve’s life extended far beyond lab coats and boardrooms. He was a man of wide-ranging interests and deep passion. A lover of music, books, travel, and especially sports, Steve brought enthusiasm and insight to every pursuit. He was an accomplished athlete, best remembered as the savvy and agile point guard for the legendary Kurt Rambis TRSL basketball team, and he maintained his athleticism and competitive spirit through hockey, golf, and impassioned viewings of March Madness and other sporting events.

Steve’s greatest joys were rooted in simple pleasures—camping with Owen, talking for hours with friends, playing cards at the cottage, or enjoying a good book with a cup of tea. He was curious about the world, endlessly thoughtful, and a brilliant conversationalist. His humor was dry but warm, his loyalty unwavering, and his presence comforting to all who were lucky enough to know him.

Steve cherished the times spent at Geneva Park, Richard and Kelly’s home, Kareen and Bryan’s cottage, and the Tausy family cottages—all places that became backdrops to countless memories and meaningful connections. These were places where Steve could simply be himself: joyful, reflective, generous, and surrounded by those he loved most.

As the Corfe and O’Brien families grieve the immeasurable loss of Steve, they also celebrate a life lived with intentionality and grace. They ask that, in lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Steve’s memory consider donating to one of the causes closest to his heart:

    • Owen’s Educational Trust Fund
    • Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, in gratitude for the compassionate care Steve received
    • Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer, a cause that perfectly combined his love for sport with his life’s work in cancer research

Steven Alexander Corfe will forever be remembered not only as a brilliant scientist and dedicated professional but more importantly as a loving husband, devoted father, beloved son and brother, and a kind-hearted friend. He lived a life defined by generosity, intellect, and quiet strength. Though his physical presence is gone, the values he lived by—curiosity, empathy, faith in people, and deep, unwavering love—will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

In honoring Steve’s life, we are reminded that the measure of a person lies not in the years they lived, but in the love they gave, the lives they improved, and the legacy they leave behind. And in all of those, Steve surpassed measure.

Rest in peace, Steve. Your light endures.

“These folks became family to me and my girls when we moved to Auburn. Katie Langston Harlin became Sarah’s best friend when our girls were in coach pitch. I’m thankful that our paths crossed in 2021.”

This sentiment echoes the thoughts of so many who knew Katie—not just as a passing acquaintance, but as someone who made them feel like family.

Katie’s life was anchored in her faith. Her devotion to Jesus Christ wasn’t just a belief she held—it was the way she lived. She embodied the teachings of Christ through her compassion, her kindness, and her willingness to serve others selflessly. Her faith gave her strength, and in turn, she gave that strength to others.

As the Harlin family navigates this season of unimaginable grief, they have asked for privacy as they mourn the loss of a woman whose presence was the heart of their home. Friends and loved ones are wrapping Jason, Whitley Kate, and Adeline Jane in prayer, love, and unwavering support—reminding them that they do not walk this path alone.

Plans are underway for memorial services that will reflect Katie’s vibrant spirit and steadfast faith. In those gatherings, there will be tears and sorrow, but also stories full of warmth and laughter—memories that paint the portrait of a life well lived and a soul deeply loved.

Katie Langston Harlin leaves behind her beloved husband Jason, daughters Whitley Kate and Adeline Jane, her parents, siblings, extended family, church community, coworkers, and a wide circle of friends who will never forget her. Her life, though heartbreakingly short, was overflowing with meaning, purpose, and grace.

As we grieve her loss, we also give thanks for her life. Katie’s memory will live on in every life she touched, every act of kindness done in her name, and every moment her story inspires someone to love more deeply, live more fully, and walk more faithfully.

May the Lord comfort those who mourn. May Katie’s soul rest in eternal peace. And may her memory forever be a blessing.

In Loving Memory of Chief Michael Phillips — End of Watch: July 5, 2025

It is with the deepest sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the End of Watch for our beloved Chief, Michael Phillips. Chief Phillips made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty while responding to a call for service during the early morning hours of July 5th, 2025. At this time, Chief Phillips is still officially listed as missing, a painful and unresolved chapter in an already heartbreaking loss.

Chief Phillips was not only a dedicated public servant—he was the soul of our department. He served with unmatched integrity, courage, and compassion. A leader by example, a mentor to many, and a friend to all, Chief Phillips embodied what it meant to be a protector of the people. He led with humility and strength, and in every moment of service, he showed us what it truly means to wear the badge with honor.

To us, Chief Phillips was more than a colleague. He was family. His absence has left a profound void—one that will never be filled. His laughter, his guidance, and his unwavering dedication to this community will echo through our halls, our patrol cars, and our daily lives. Though gone from our sight, his spirit will forever guide us.

As we mourn this unthinkable loss, we also commit to carrying forward his legacy. Chief Phillips believed in duty, in serving with heart, and in standing up when it mattered most. We will continue his work with the same tenacity and compassion he inspired in all of us. We will protect and serve with pride—because that is what he would have wanted.

To our community: thank you for your love, your support, and your prayers during this tragic time. The strength you give us reminds us that Chief Phillips didn’t just serve a department—he served a town that loved him back.

Chief, your watch may have ended, but your impact will never fade. You led us with honor. You taught us with kindness. You protected us with bravery.

Rest in peace, Chief Michael Phillips. We’ve got it from here.
