In Loving Memory of Anthony Kenneth Liford Beloved Husband, Father, Handyman, and Adventurer

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Anthony Kenneth Liford, age 49, of Hinkle, who peacefully departed from this life on the morning of Thursday, July 10, 2025, at his home. Born on April 28, 1976, in Pineville, Anthony was the beloved son of Gary Liford and the late Elaine Hubbard Collinsworth.

Anthony was a man of many talents and passions — a true handyman whose skills knew no bounds. Whether he was under the hood of a vehicle, working on a project at their cherished lakefront property in Tennessee, or lending a helping hand wherever needed, Anthony’s spirit of generosity and competence shone brightly. His hands and heart were always busy, always giving, always building.

Though his strong work ethic made it difficult for him to step away from his business, The Oven Mitt, Anthony had a deep love for travel and adventure. He never passed up an opportunity to explore new places, discovering beauty and joy wherever the road took him. One of his greatest joys was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Alongside his wife Tonya and their close-knit group of friends, Anthony cherished the freedom and camaraderie of the open road — the wind in their faces, the endless horizon, and the unforgettable journeys shared together.

Anthony united in marriage with the love of his life, Tonya Miles, on February 1, 2011, forming a partnership built on love, loyalty, and countless shared memories.

He was preceded in death not only by his mother but also by his sister, Margaret Lynn Wright. His loss is deeply felt by many who loved him.

Anthony leaves behind a loving family who will carry his memory forward. He is survived by his devoted wife, Tonya Liford of Hinkle; his father, Gary Liford of Heidrick; and his children — Austin Brown of Detroit, Michigan; Hannah Rice and her husband Jacob of Stanford; Trenton Schall and Ashton of Corbin; and Bryleigh Mills of Hinkle. He also leaves behind his brother, Gary “Buddy” Liford of Heidrick, and his precious grandchildren, Scarlett and Harley Rice, along with numerous other loved ones and dear friends.

A funeral service to honor Anthony’s life will be held in the chapel of Knox Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 2 P.M. The service will be officiated by Rev. Keith “Buster” Liford, Rev. Gary Miles, and Rev. Valerie McCann. Anthony will be laid to rest in Payne Cemetery.

Those chosen to serve as casket bearers are Trenton Schall, Jacob Rice, Gary Liford, Johnny Phillips, James McCann, and Hugh Jones — a testament to the deep relationships Anthony forged throughout his life.

Friends and family are invited to visit at the funeral home starting Tuesday after 11 A.M. until the hour of the service.

Arrangements are entrusted to Knox Funeral Home, whose staff are honored to assist in celebrating the life and legacy of Anthony K. Liford.

The family warmly welcomes condolences and memories shared, keeping Anthony’s spirit alive in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Rest in peace, Anthony — your hands built more than projects, they built a legacy of love and devotion that will never be forgotten.

  • Honoring a Fallen Hero: A Call to Recognize and Support Those Battling PTSD

Honoring a Fallen Hero: A Call to Recognize and Support Those Battling PTSD

Today, we gather with heavy hearts to mourn the heartbreaking loss of another law enforcement officer, Jennifer Lynn , who succumbed to the invisible wounds of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Behind every badge is a human being—someone who served with unwavering courage, unyielding strength, and deep sacrifice. Yet, even the strongest among us can carry burdens too heavy to bear alone.

PTSD is real. It doesn’t always wear a face we recognize, and it doesn’t discriminate based on bravery or toughness. It quietly takes root in the minds and hearts of those who dedicate their lives to protecting others, often hiding in silence until that silence becomes unbearable.

This tragedy reminds us that the battle for many first responders, service members, and others affected by trauma is not always visible to the outside world. The weight of unseen scars can feel isolating and overwhelming, yet no one should have to face it alone.

To every first responder, military veteran, or anyone silently struggling with PTSD or mental health challenges—you are not alone. Your pain is valid. You matter. There is help, there is hope, and there are people who care deeply about your well-being—more than you may realize.

If you are struggling, please reach out. Talk to a trusted friend or family member. Connect with a peer who understands. Use the resources available to you, whether it’s counseling, support groups, or crisis hotlines. If you don’t know where to start, send us a message. We are here to help you get the support you deserve. We have countless contacts ready to assist, and no one should suffer in silence.

And if you’re reading this and know someone who wears a badge, carries an emotional burden, or has endured trauma, please check in on them. Sometimes, just a simple conversation or a moment of genuine concern can be a lifeline. From my perspective as a police wife, I’ve seen firsthand how those suffering often hesitate to reach out. Sometimes, it’s reaching in that saves a life.

Let us come together to break the stigma surrounding mental health in the law enforcement and military communities. Let us choose compassion and understanding. Let us protect those who protect us. Rest in peace, Jennifer Lynn . You are not forgotten. Your service, your sacrifice, and your story will live on, reminding us all to care more deeply and reach out more often.

  • In Loving Memory of Michelle Kenton Beloved Mother, Cherished Friend, and Pillar of Strength

In Loving Memory of Michelle Kenton Beloved Mother, Cherished Friend, and Pillar of Strength

Fredericksburg, VA – It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that the family of Michelle Kenton shares the news of her passing. Michelle, a vibrant and compassionate woman, left this world far too soon at the age of 52. Her departure has left an immeasurable void in the lives of all who knew and loved her.

Michelle was the heart of her family — a mother whose love knew no limits, a friend whose loyalty was steadfast, and a woman whose strength and grace touched everyone she encountered. She was known for her unwavering kindness, her ability to make others feel instantly at home in her presence, and the quiet courage with which she met life’s challenges.

Born and raised with a spirit of determination and empathy, Michelle built a life centered on caring for those she loved. Her greatest joy came from being a mother, a role she fulfilled with unshakable devotion, boundless love, and a fierce protectiveness that defined her every decision. Her children were her pride and her purpose, and everything she did — every sacrifice, every late-night talk, every celebration — was done with their happiness and well-being in mind.

Michelle’s warmth extended far beyond her family. Friends, neighbors, coworkers, and even those who met her only briefly would recall her radiant smile, easy laugh, and open heart. Whether offering a listening ear, organizing a community effort, or preparing a home-cooked meal for someone in need, Michelle had a way of showing up exactly when people needed her most.

She believed in simple joys — watching the sun set over a quiet Virginia evening, listening to her favorite music while dancing in the kitchen, or sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee and someone to talk to. Those moments now serve as bittersweet reminders of a life filled with love, presence, and authenticity.

As the Kenton family grieves the profound loss of Michelle, they are also preparing to celebrate her life with a memorial service that honors her legacy of love, compassion, and resilience. In an effort to reflect the beauty of her spirit and give her the farewell she deserves, the family is inviting support from the community. Contributions to help cover memorial expenses are deeply appreciated, and every donation, no matter the size, helps ease the burden during this difficult time.

Michelle Kenton’s memory will live on in every act of kindness inspired by her example, every word of encouragement she once spoke, and every life she touched with her unwavering love.

Though she may no longer walk beside us, her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew her.

Rest peacefully, Michelle. You will never be forgotten.

  • In Loving Memory of Lynne Judith Kanavel Whitesides “Mama Lynne” — A Guiding Light, Spiritual Pioneer, and Beloved Friend

In Loving Memory of Lynne Judith Kanavel Whitesides “Mama Lynne” — A Guiding Light, Spiritual Pioneer, and Beloved Friend

Salt Lake City, UT — With deep love and profound gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Lynne Judith Kanavel Whitesides, affectionately known as “Mama Lynne,” who transitioned into her next great adventure on July 7, 2025.

Lynne was a beacon of compassion, wisdom, and spiritual insight — a woman whose presence lit up rooms, hearts, and paths for countless people. Her journey through this life was one defined by service, healing, and truth. For decades, she walked with others through moments of pain and transformation, always offering guidance rooted in gentle strength and unwavering love. She believed deeply in the sacredness of the human experience and worked tirelessly to help others reconnect with the divine within themselves.

Those who knew Lynne remember her not only for her spiritual leadership but for her warmth, her joy, and her magnetic ability to make people feel truly seen, heard, and safe. Whether she was leading a retreat, sitting in quiet counsel, or simply embracing someone in a much-needed hug, Lynne gave of herself fully and freely. Her influence rippled far beyond the boundaries of Salt Lake City and reached communities across the country.

Throughout her life, Lynne challenged norms and opened doors. As one of the early voices in the progressive spiritual movement within Utah and beyond, she courageously walked the line between tradition and evolution — helping bridge faith, feminism, and authenticity. Her spiritual wisdom was matched only by her courage to speak truth and hold space for the messy, beautiful unfolding of human growth.

Lynne was not just a spiritual teacher — she was a mother, a mentor, a fierce advocate for love, and a believer in joy even in the face of sorrow. Her laughter, her prayers, her stories, and her songs will echo on in the lives of those she touched.

A celebration of Lynne’s life will be held on August 1st at Cliff Lodge in Snowbird, Utah, a place as majestic and full of spirit as she was. All who knew her, who were touched by her, or who simply wish to honor a life lived with intention and grace are warmly welcomed.

In accordance with her final wishes, Lynne’s family is establishing a scholarship fund in her name to support future healers, seekers, and spiritual leaders — a tribute to the lifelong work she began and inspired in others. Contributions are also being accepted to assist in honoring her estate and the many details she hoped would carry her legacy forward.

Lynne leaves behind not only a grieving yet grateful community, but a living legacy: a world forever changed by her love, her leadership, and her luminous soul. She now rests in the arms of the universe she so passionately explored — no longer with us in body, but alive in every life she lifted.

“May we all carry a piece of her light forward.”
Rest well, Mama Lynne — your adventure continues.

  • Flood Risk Just Heightened for Hill Country: Kerrville and Surrounding Areas Under Level 3 Rainfall Alert

Flood Risk Just Heightened for Hill Country: Kerrville and Surrounding Areas Under Level 3 Rainfall Alert

Kerrville, TX — July 12, 2025 –Texas Hill Country is bracing for yet another wave of potentially devastating weather as flood risk levels have now been upgraded to Level 3 out of 4 for excessive rainfall, according to the latest reports from local and national meteorological agencies. This alert comes just days after Kerrville and nearby communities were ravaged by catastrophic flooding over the Fourth of July weekend, an event that has left parts of the region still recovering and several families still searching for missing loved ones.

Forecasts predict up to 9 inches of rainfall in localized areas across the Hill Country through Sunday, with heavy downpours expected to be intense and persistent. The National Weather Service has warned residents and travelers in the region to be on high alert, as flash flooding, river swells, and dangerous travel conditions may develop with little to no warning.River flooding remains a primary concern, particularly along rivers like the Guadalupe, which are already running high and could rise rapidly with additional rain. Officials are urging the public to avoid all rivers and low-lying crossings, even if they appear safe. Just a few inches of swift-moving water can sweep vehicles away, and the potential for debris and unstable banks only increases the danger.

Emergency management teams across Kerr, Gillespie, Bandera, and Kendall Counties are closely monitoring the situation and have pre-positioned resources to respond quickly to any rising floodwaters. Local law enforcement, fire departments, and search and rescue units remain actively engaged — both in monitoring current conditions and in the ongoing mission to support families of those who went missing during last week’s flooding.

As weather conditions grow more severe, prayers are being lifted across Texas for those who are still waiting for answers, for families who have lost homes and loved ones, and for the first responders and volunteers working tirelessly under dangerous conditions to protect others. The emotional toll is high, and the community is leaning on each other — and their faith — to get through this trying time.

The damage from the Fourth of July floods is still fresh in many minds, with heartbreaking images of submerged vehicles, washed-out bridges, and frantic rescues painting a stark picture of the challenges still ahead. Now, as more rain threatens to hit an already saturated region, residents are being asked to take every precaution and to prioritize safety over everything else.

    Important Safety Reminders:

    • Never drive through flooded roadways — “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
    • Avoid recreational activity near rivers or creeks.
    • Prepare emergency kits and have an evacuation plan ready.
    • Stay informed with alerts from local news, weather services, and official social media channels.

As the rains fall and the rivers rise, the heart of Texas remains strong. The Hill Country community has proven its resilience before and will once again come together — in prayer, in service, and in hope — to weather this storm and support one another through the aftermath.

Please continue to pray for Texas, for the missing, for the hurting, and for the heroes working around the clock to keep their neighbors safe.

Stay safe. Stay aware. And check on your neighbors.

  • Remembering Chad Kampbell: Community Leader, Devoted Husband, and Friend to Many

Remembering Chad Kampbell: Community Leader, Devoted Husband, and Friend to Many

A tragic traffic collision on Highway 126 near Piru has claimed the life of Chad Kampbell, a 46-year-old resident of Stevenson Ranch, leaving his family, friends, and the wider Santa Clarita Valley community heartbroken. Chad was identified as the driver of a white Subaru involved in the fatal crash. According to Andrew Taban, a close family friend, Chad was driving home alone from work at the time of the incident.

Concern first arose when Chad’s wife, Michelle Kampbell, was unable to reach him by phone. Hours later, her fears were confirmed when she was notified of the tragic news by officers with the California Highway Patrol-Ventura area at approximately 10 p.m. on the night of the accident.

Chad leaves behind his wife of 16 years, Michelle, and their 14-year-old daughter, Bridgette, to whom he was a devoted and loving father. The loss of such a deeply committed family man is immeasurable, not only to his loved ones but to the entire community that Chad called home and served passionately.

Friend and fellow community organizer Andrew Taban spoke with emotion and admiration about Chad, who he first met 11 years ago during a Westboro Baptist Church counter-protest held in the community. Taban, who was just 18 at the time, recalled how Chad immediately made an impression on him with his clarity, compassion, and ability to offer perspective in challenging moments.

“He was really the type of person who would help to just cut through the noise and kind of reground yourself, recenter, or help you understand what you’re doing … why you’re doing it, talk you through it,” said Taban. “And he would just… be there if you needed him.”

Chad Kampbell’s impact stretched far beyond his inner circle. He was a respected and active figure in local Democratic political circles within the Santa Clarita Valley. Taban described his contributions as both tireless and heartfelt. Chad previously served as president of the Democratic Alliance for Action of Santa Clarita Valley (DAA-SCV) and was an engaged member of SCV Democrats. His passion for civic engagement and building community dialogue made him a respected voice and steady leader in local political activism.

Despite his commitment to political causes and social justice, Chad was best remembered by those closest to him for his gentle humor, thoughtful advice, and deep empathy. He was the kind of person who showed up — whether for a protest, a neighborhood cleanup, or simply a friend in need.

One of Taban’s favorite memories with Chad involved a spontaneous trip to the local animal shelter. Chad didn’t intend to adopt that day — but he left with Blue, a dog who would become his loyal companion.

“He just had that kind of heart. He saw something that needed love, and he gave it,” Taban shared.

As the community begins to process the loss of someone who gave so much of himself to others, friends and family are rallying to support Michelle and Bridgette during this time of unimaginable grief. Plans for a memorial are expected to be announced in the coming days.

Chad Kampbell’s life, though tragically cut short, was one of service, love, and unwavering commitment — to his family, his friends, his community, and his beliefs. He will be remembered not only for the things he did but for the way he made others feel: seen, supported, and never alone.

Rest in peace, Chad Kampbell. Your voice, your heart, and your legacy will live on in every life you touched.

  • In Memory of Alex Habib: A Life Cut Short, A Light That Endures

In Memory of Alex Habib: A Life Cut Short, A Light That Endures

With profound sorrow and a heavy heart, we share the tragic news of the passing of Alex Habib, who lost his life last night in a senseless and heartbreaking incident. The shock of this devastating loss has rippled through all who knew and loved him, leaving behind a silence that words can scarcely fill and a pain that runs deep.

Alex was more than just a name—he was a force of love, laughter, and vibrant energy. To know him was to be drawn into the warmth of his presence, to laugh a little louder, to live a little freer, and to feel truly seen. He brought life to every room he entered, a spark of joy that radiated through his words, his smile, and the way he cared for others with such ease and sincerity.

He was a beloved son, a devoted brother, a loyal friend, and a bright light in his community. Alex lived with his heart wide open—ready to help, quick to forgive, and always looking out for the people around him. His compassion ran deep. Whether it was checking in on a struggling friend, going out of his way to make someone laugh, or simply offering a listening ear, Alex had a way of making people feel they weren’t alone.

His talents and passions were many, but it was the way he shared them that made them special. Whether it was music, art, sports, or simple acts of kindness, Alex gave pieces of himself to others freely and without reservation. He had a natural ability to connect—with people of all ages and walks of life—and leave them better for having known him.

The circumstances of his passing are unbearably tragic, the kind of pain that feels both surreal and unjust. That someone so full of promise, so loved, and so alive could be taken so suddenly and so violently is an ache that will linger in the hearts of all who knew him. It’s the kind of loss that leaves questions with no answers, and heartbreak that can’t be explained.

But even in this darkness, Alex’s light remains. It lives in the memories we hold dear—in every shared joke, every late-night conversation, every photo, every hug. It lives in the stories people will tell for years to come about the times he made them laugh, helped them through, or simply made their lives better just by being there.

As we grieve, we also remember the beauty of his spirit. We remember his kindness, his loyalty, his strength, and the infectious joy that made him one of a kind. We mourn the future that was stolen, but we also hold tightly to the life he lived—a life that, while far too short, left a lasting impact.

To honor Alex Habib is to love a little more fiercely, to forgive a little more easily, and to show up for others with the same compassion he so freely gave. His story does not end with his passing—it lives on in every heart he touched.

Rest in peace, Alex Habib. You were taken too soon, but your light will never fade. You are missed beyond words and loved beyond measure.

  • In Loving Memory of Silvano Banuelos: A Life of Quiet Strength, Enduring Love, and Unforgettable Kindness

In Loving Memory of Silvano Banuelos: A Life of Quiet Strength, Enduring Love, and Unforgettable Kindness

It is with profound sadness, deep respect, and heartfelt remembrance that we honor the life of Silvano Banuelos—a beloved father, brother, son, and friend—whose presence brought warmth, strength, and compassion into the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Silvano was a man whose impact could never be measured by words alone. He lived not for accolades or attention, but for love—for his family, for his community, and for the people who crossed his path. His kindness was never loud, but it was constant. His generosity was never boastful, but it was boundless. Silvano simply gave—of his time, his heart, and his unwavering support—whenever someone needed him.

To his children, Silvano was a guiding light—a provider, a protector, and a constant presence who built his world around their happiness and safety. He took immense pride in being a father, and every decision he made reflected his commitment to giving his children the best life he could offer. Whether through late-night talks, words of wisdom, or acts of quiet sacrifice, Silvano made sure his love was always known and deeply felt.

As a brother and a son, Silvano was cherished beyond words. He shared a bond with his family that ran deeper than blood—a connection rooted in loyalty, shared memories, and unwavering support through life’s highs and lows. He was the one they could count on—the steady hand, the listening ear, the comforting shoulder. He carried his family in his heart and showed up for them in ways both big and small, always with humility and heart.

To his friends and those who worked alongside him, Silvano was a source of steady encouragement and quiet inspiration. He brought calm where there was chaos, strength where there was uncertainty, and friendship that never wavered. His work ethic was admirable, but it was his character that left the deepest mark—honest, humble, respectful, and kind to all.

Silvano’s presence was one of quiet strength. He didn’t need to speak loudly to be heard; his actions spoke volumes. He believed in doing what was right, even when no one was watching. He believed in lifting others up, even when he carried his own burdens. And he believed in love—steadfast, selfless love that left everyone who knew him better for it.

Though his passing leaves a void that can never truly be filled, the legacy Silvano leaves behind is powerful and enduring. It lives on in the lessons he taught his children. It lives on in the bonds he formed with family and friends. And it lives on in the quiet moments—those everyday memories of laughter, of shared meals, of late-night conversations, and of silent support that never needed words.

In this time of sorrow, we also hold deep gratitude. Gratitude for the years we had with Silvano, for the love he gave so freely, and for the countless ways he touched our hearts. His memory is a blessing, and his spirit will remain with us—guiding us, reminding us to love deeply, work humbly, and live with compassion.

Rest in peace, Silvano Banuelos. You were deeply loved in life, and you will be forever missed—but never forgotten.
